Taxi Driver meets Network, with a dash of There Will Be Blood thrown in, in a dark (literally and figuratively) romp through the LA news scene, featuring one of the best creepy guy performances I've ever seen by Jake Gyllenhall.
Or however you spell that.
Four (****) out of four stars.

Given the general rise in expenses and fall in the typical standard of living, the future ain't what it used to be.

The Wachowski Brothers had to make Bound first, because The Matrix was too complicated a movie for two untested directors to make on their first try.pinback wrote:To paraphrase Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network, if Richard Dutcher could have made Nightcrawler, he would have made Nightcrawler.
I watched Nightcrawler, and it reminded me of movies about the "good old days" of reporting, where reporters did anything to get the story. The Front Page and His Girl Friday, where they sometimes committed crimes themselves or covered up some in order to get the story, or Se7en, where John Doe admits that if you claim to be a reporter and offer bribes you can get a lot of information out of (underpaid) cops, probably more information than you can get if you merely claim to be a reporter.
