I live in the DC area, and all you ever hear about the Redskins is RG3, or, if they're charitable enough for the poor bastards who are new to the area, they mention his name: Robert Griffin III.

You'd think he was Dan Snyder, the owner of the team rather than just one of the players. When Jack Kent Cooke owned the Redskins, you only heard this level of talk-talk about Cooke, never about any of the team's players.
Given the general rise in expenses and fall in the typical standard of living, the future ain't what it used to be.

No you wouldn't, because RG3 isn't the most worthless, bottom-feeding scumsucker on the face of the Earth.

To the extent that this is true, it's because the team was generally always pretty good when JKC owned the team, and the team was generally stacked with quality talent.

RG3 is the first time any Redskins fan has had reason to be excited about the team in the last twenty years. TWENTY CHRISTING YEARS.

The greatest stat I heard about this week's game was that it was the first home game they'd won on Monday Night Football since GUS FUCKING FREROTTE was the quarterback. Oh my God I just blasted chunky vomit all over the screen thinking about Gus Frerotte.

(I also just ate a Jumbo Jack, though.)

I almost missed the last line, I was going to ask you why you were eating Barf-in-the-bo... err, I mean Jack-In-The-Box food. This also says something; the NFL website says the last time Frerotte was with the 'Skins was fourteen years ago.

That's right, TDR! So you can see how any hint of hope for this once-great franchise is being jumped on with much fervor and excitement.

I am glad that you stuck with the Redskins. You deserve a little success. Not too much - your team won three Super Bowls in your lifetime, and went to at least one more - but a little success.

A playoff win, maybe.

I am in Atlanta this week with a bunch of people from DC. They were all talking about RG3 at lunch the other day and I was kind of out of earshot and I was like, "hell yeah, RGB is awesome! So much better than CGA was!"
"I failed a savings throw and now I am back."

True, but then there could never be a good black quarterback with the initials CGA.

Not yet, you mean. Could be there's someone named Charles/Carl/Chad George/Garrett/Gary/Guy Aaron/Abernathy/Adams who's in elementary/middle school now (or enters high school next year) and might grow up to become a potential pro ball player.

I know what I did wrong, I was kind of tired when I wrote it, I forgot to add that if he said we're not going to find a quarterback whose initials were XGA that would be likely. Maybe we'll find one whose initials are HD, otherwise we might have to settle for VGA instead.

(Note for humor impaired: XGA was a soon forgotten proprietary video mode IBM developed to try to rescue proprietary hardware designs, but they wanted too much to license patents for PS/2 computer systems, the ISA bus required no licenses.)

Well, it's all over, the Redskins are in the toilet. Sure, they won the game after RG3's right leg had to be amputated, but until he can get it glued back on and learn to walk again, they're dead.

Seriously, the thing is, the opening item on the evening news is how Griffin got sacked - or whatever it is when you're knocked down if his position is not considered sacked - and the video of him getting knocked down. I think he was fortunate that his right leg was in the air when he got hit, rather than being spiked into the ground. I suspect the injury will be less serious than if he had been standing on the leg.

Sprained knee. Nigga will be back out there next week. (I say "nigga" in the sense of, you know, a bro who can man up and get shit done, not in the sense of he is black.)

(He is black though.)

What we REALLY needed was for the Saints to come through today and not embarrass themselves against the goddamn GianOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPS.

God.

C'mon, Robb.

I wanna be in that number

You didn't give an estimate on how long you think RG3 is going to be benched. On a TV interview as part of the newscast where they show the video of him getting turned into a paraplegic, he said he knew it wasn't an ACL - he's felt that - and he thought he'd be back next week. Anyone have any thoughts on how long he'll be gone?
