Rock and Roll hall of fame 2013
I can't believe that Rush has yet to be inducted.
Here's a blurb from the RRHOF:
"To be eligible for induction as an artist (as a performer, composer, or musician) into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the artist must have released a record, in the generally accepted sense of that phrase, at least 25 years prior to the year of induction; and have demonstrated unquestionable musical excellence.
We shall consider factors such as an artist's musical influence on other artists, length and depth of career and the body of work, innovation and superiority in style and technique, but musical excellence shall be the essential qualification of induction."
Run-DMC has already been inducted, just so ya know.

It's kind of a joke, at this point. Is the problem that not enough people buy the albums? Or that everyone who buys the albums are nerds?
What's it gonna take? If the Beastie Boys are in (which they should be, no doubt) then Rush has to be.

That's your opinion. You're wrong, but that's your opinion.pinback wrote:Yeaaaah, but most of those are terrible.Flack wrote:No KISS, no Judas Priest, no Iron Maiden, no Heart, no Bon Jovi, no Def Leppard, no Soundgarden, no The Cars, no Cheap Trick, no Journey, no ELO, no Hall and Oates, no Ozzy, no Motley Crue, no Black Flag, no INXS, no Devo, no Scorpions, no Meatloaf, no Styx ... Although I will admit, every time I realize INXS isn't in the rock and roll Hall of Fame, I get all choked up about it.

Def Leppard, who won two American Music Awards in 1989 (best Hard Rock Artist and best Hard Rock Album), were part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) that change the landscape of American music. You might remember Hysteria, the album that won them the award; it went 12x platinum. I don't know how many copies Pyromania sold, but if you say you've never played air guitar to Rock of Ages or Foolin', you're lying.
Def Leppard brought awesome rock from Britain to America, making both countries better. Nobody with a straight face can claim "Roll the Bones" made America a better place. Pour some sugar on THAT.

Okay. I think they suck more than any suck has ever sucked, but I understand I'm in the minority here.Flack wrote:Def Leppard, who won two American Music Awards in 1989 (best Hard Rock Artist and best Hard Rock Album), were part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) that change the landscape of American music. I just searched Youtube for "Rush Drum Solo" and the first video I found had Neal Peart playing a drum solo as well as a tiny electronic piano with drum sticks. That is not rock and roll.
When Rick Allen lost his arm, he didn't even tell the guys in Def Leppard. He just showed up with one arm and was like WHAT and kept rocking. That's rock and roll.

Are you referring to this?pin---k wrote:---KING FINALLY. Jesus.
In that you're referring to what he and his wife made plans to do, or does it mean that with respect to doing that with Jesus?AArdvark wrote:It must be a brain thing. I can remember crap like every episode of Mr. Whipple and his toilet paper squeezing customers (including Mean Joe Green!) but can't remember two days ago when my wife and I made plans to do something.
Oh, and by the way, Pin---k, what exactly does your observation have to do with the lack of RRHOF induction of various groups?
