I will not.Tdarcos wrote:Ben, please edit your post to change the title from "3 best ridleyh soctt" to "3 Best Ridley Scott."
Blade Runner has a better beginning than Alien. Overall, Alien is a better movie.
EDIT: I kind of take that back. Alien's VERY beginning, the opening credit sequence, is maybe the greatest opening credit sequences ever devised. But yes, after that, Blade Runner's opening is better.

OK, I am glad we established that. I am glad that we have the first part down.pinback wrote:I will not.Tdarcos wrote:Ben, please edit your post to change the title from "3 best ridleyh soctt" to "3 Best Ridley Scott."

For once pinner is right, Blade Runner is one of the few sci fi movies that I've never made it through without falling asleep. Alien is good but Aliens is better, in my humble opinion. It's got more action and Paul Riser is perfect as a complete backstabbing piece of shit. I hated the third one though.pinback wrote:Blade Runner has a better beginning than Alien. You make a good point, a guy getting shot in the fucking chest before the 4 minute mark makes me drift off into dreamland as well.CO wrote:For once pinner is right, Blade Runner is one of the few sci fi movies that I've never made it through without falling asleep. It isn't surprising that ICJ prefers the noir motif (in Blade Runner) over the thriller backdrop of Alien (FoD, ND, and CZ have heavy noir vibes and atmospheres to them).
As to my opinion, I'm going to remain impartial: BR and Alien could be construed as the most modern films I've watched in the last few years. However, the polish and craftsmanship of Blade Runner: The Final Cut really outshines that of Alien and other re-imaginings or "special editions," of other films.

Blade Runner puts you to sleep, but in a good way, due to its entrancing, dreamlike vibe. I do not give any demerits for that.
Alien vs. Aliens? Oh, how to pick. They're both wonderful. I think it comes down to which genre you prefer -- sci-fi/action or sci-fi/horror. Both are at the very top of each of their respective heap.

Alien and Aliens actually have very similar vibes: though more action based, Aliens still retains the "thriller" theme in that it builds up the encounters. Alien also exploited this, but it was more the psychological as opposed to the physical conflict that defined the film.
As a sequel though, Aliens did build on the ideas presented in the first movie quite well and I don't see either being mutually exclusive.

RetroRomper is correct. In fact, he is correct in this thread, and so am I, and so is Pinback when he says he's not giving demerits to Blade Runner (which I will try to watch again before the end of the month).
The noir aspects of it delight me, and I wish there were more than one cyberpunk noir movie made. How the &^%$ do we live in a world where there is no Neuromancer or When Gravity Fails movie? HOW? How.

Please explain why you think it's better to look like either you're an uneducated cretin or that you post here while drunk?pinback wrote:I will not.Tdarcos wrote:Ben, please edit your post to change the title from "3 best ridleyh soctt" to "3 Best Ridley Scott."
Given the general rise in expenses and fall in the typical standard of living, the future ain't what it used to be.

This thread was part of a series of threads, in which each of the titles was hastily, carelessly keyed in as fast as possible.Tdarcos wrote:Please explain why you think it's better to look like either you're an uneducated cretin or that you post here while drunk?pinback wrote:I will not.Tdarcos wrote:Ben, please edit your post to change the title from "3 best ridleyh soctt" to "3 Best Ridley Scott."
