(Sorry, Kids in the Hall reference, where the guy sells vaccuum cleaners to the one guy who does what he's told.)
As someone who was hoping that the Saints would draft Leinart, to the point where I put it in my Outlook Calendar (this was before they signed Drew Brees) I can express how good it would feel to draft your own QB and not inherit someone else's mistakes. There is also something to be said for having a few QBs on the team and having them jockey for position.
I just hope the draft pick isn't too high. For Greg's sake.
After a few decades of dealing with the Bucs' quarterback situation, I just shrug my shoulders at things like this. I'm just glad they aren't giving up Cadillac Williams for the Jeff George negotiating rights.
I also need confirmation: Tampa Bay is still in fucking Florida, correct? Where they don't have The Thing-esque winters like we did this year? If my job traded me to Tampa Bay right now I'd be flipping out with joy like a gay ballerina on the first day of May.
Jake held a press conference. He is a fan of the 3rd string quarterback (of the Broncos, I think) and wants to play competitive handball. And that's fine.
However, I think there is a relationship among quarterbacks that goes like this, where the arrow denotes "friend of"
Second Year Sensation QB -> Coach
Backup QB (Previously 3rd) -> The Fans
Second Year Sensation QB -> New 3rd QB
Of course, if Bradlee Van Pelt is at all involved in the equation, everyone hates him except people from Colorado State University. But that speaks to how ridiculous Bronco fans are: just because the majority of them are University of Colorado fans, and because Van Pelt beat UC when he was at CSU, they were actively against the kid when he got drafted by the Broncos.
I don't know who the real rival of Syracuse is, but if Jim Kelly (Miami alumni) had the chance to be the quarterback for the Saints I would have bathed myself in curry, cabbage and come for it to be true. SO I SWEAR IT!
