Steve Irwin is dead

THE Crocodile Man, Steve Irwin, is dead.

He was killed in a freak accident in Cairns, police sources said.

It is understood he was killed by a sting-ray barb that went through his chest.

He was swimming off the Low Isles at Port Douglas filming an underwater documentary and that's when it occured.

Ambulance officers confirmed they attended a reef fatality this morning at Batt Reef off Port Douglas.

This is sad, mostly because he had a child. Otherwise, well, he was sort of asking for it from what I've seen.

What's really sad is that ten minutes later Google rolled out their brilliant idea of miking PCs and translating that into ad search data. Three guesses as to which story gets more attention on slashdot.

I guess he was one of only three people ever to be killed by a sting ray. I always knew he would go young and violently but what bad luck to have the barb go right into his heart.

I remember one time someone asked him what his favorite animal was. He said that stingray have a special place in his heart.
