Halfway through it, I said, "boy, this feels a lot like Heat." Then at the end, when the credits finally roll, we get "Directed by Michael Mann". Ohhhh, right.
Like Heat, it's way too long, but stylish enough to keep you watching.
Unlike Heat, it's so implausible and stupid that you feel personally insulted throughout most of the last half of the movie.
I enjoyed Tom Cruise as the hitman. I did not enjoy Jamie Foxx as the cab driver. I very much did not enjoy that by five minutes in, you pretty much knew how the whole movie was going to go.
I liked the overhead shots of the cab going through LA.
All in all, not nearly as good as everyone says. I give this here movie... two (2) (**) stars.
