2) In this, I DO agree with Danza. The thing is, there are some teachers that slip by the cracks and get you ridiculously interested in a subject. When it hits you that all classes could be that way it really does make you extremely angry. Before I was a senior in high school I would have said that I "hated" mathematics. DZland and I had a guy in 12th that was just a preposterously good teacher and pre-calc was the most entertaining non-arts class going that year for everybody. Unsurprisingly, the guy would get angry if any of us tried rote memorization.
On the other hand, the stuff they cover in high school -- in this country -- really isn't, ultimately, that difficult. I mean, come on, I would imagine that everyone here except for Souffle breezed by it without having to spend every waking moment after class doing homework, and Souffle simply worked on his cocksmanship*. We could have all handled a lot more. Rather than up the scales, though, it's the same (Tesla-less, natch) crap every year and you're expected to work hard only at uni.
* It was either "cocksmanship" or "cocksuckery" -- I thought the former more captured the "magic" of Souffle of Pain's formative HS years.

Everybody wants the Star Trek future where evrything has its place and everybody has unlimited potential. Our school does things slightly differently than most schools. They use a 0-4 system rather than a-f for some dumbfuck reason, and it pisses me off because the way it works is Teh Shit (TM). Rather than focus on how well you actually fucking *did the work*, the grading system instead focuses on how well you are *trying* to do the work. So you could be handed a run-of-the-mill Math worksheet. Multiply and divide the negative intigers. No problem. I learned this bullshit in the *seventh fucking grade*, and there are *juniors in high school* that don't fucking know this shit. I mean, granted, it was a review class, but *still*! They fucking went over *arithmatic* the first week! I mean, FUCK! ...Anyway. You ace it, no problem. You get a B-. Why? Because you didn't put any effort into it. Well of *course* you aren't putting any goddamn effort into it! Its a fucking math assignment that I didn't have trouble with in the seventh fucking grade! But someone with the IQ of a breast implant (... shit, I think I just zoned out my audience. Dammit.) can slobber out some pathetic semblence of a completed worksheet and get a... well, probably not a perfect 4, but higher than a 3.0, at least. Under this dumbfuck grading system of mine, if you know the work you get fucked in the ass. And then my parents complain when I have Cs. Goddamn motherfucking jackholing assraping shit-sucking cuntsmoking...
