Perfect Pop Songs

There are two songs on my Perfect Pop Songs list (this is not to say that there are not other wonderful, awesome, amazing songs out there. There are. They just don't seem absolutely perfect for what they are, as these songs have seemed to me). They are

"She's an Angel" by They Might Be Giants
&
"Box Elder" by Pavement.

Does anyone have their own list (small, please, one or two songs) of Perfect Pop Songs? They can be other genres, so long as they're Perfect.

She's an angel is a good song. It's always nice to see some of the songs people put up. I end up downloading like a freak. I ended up with tons of stuff after everyone did that "best songs of all time" thread.

I guess my vote is going for

Lately I have been enamoured with both the CD and alternate take of Company Calls (Epilogue) by Death Cab for Cutie. It might be a temporary thing, but.... at least, in terms of my opinion now, they nailed it.

Interesting that you say that. That reminds me; I guess I would also call "Meanwhile, Rick James" a Perfect Pop song.

Yeah, that's a good song. My girlfriend says she likes "Company Calls" better (I don't know; I'm not as familiar with the album). I like "The Face That Launched 1000 Shits" by Death Cab quite a bit, though my girlfriend does not like it nearly as much. Go figure.

Yeah, I dunno. This question seems like something that I totally decided on some time back in the day, but right now, it's a struggle to figure what fits the bill.

So I'll just say "I Wanna Be Adored" by the Stone Roses and "Glad Girls" by Guided By Voices.

I downloaded Company Calls (Epilogue) by Death Cab for Cutie last night and can't get enough of it. There's something about it that is very unearthly. At first I downloaded just company calls, it was good but when I heard the epilogue, I immediatley realized why you picked it. Good choice.

Some of the songs people are putting up are really hard to find. Are these songs from local bands?

I was quite inebriated when I wrote that message last night. That is the first decent thing to come out of my personal, recent experiences in drunkeness in quite some time.

There is another song from that album that I like. This one, as a matter of fact. I guess it's just called "Title Track."

Pavement's not. The song's from one of their first albums, though, and they're not together anymore. I wish I had the song on CD so that I could post it here. :(

my favorite pavement song is The Unseen Power of a Picket Fence, followed by "Hair Cut" <?> Other than that, not much of a fan.

I like She's an Angel by TMBG but I really ... well didn't know it was pop ... how the hell should I tell? I haven't uh heard it on the radio ... is that a sign of "pop"?

That's an interesting question. I'm no musician; I'll just try to tell you more or less how I think I define pop.

Pop = Catchy Melody, Decently Fast-Paced.

I think. I think that would account for Catchy Blues Songs not being Pop (i.e. they're not fast-paced).

But hip-hop and punk would definitely, on the whole, be Pop or at least Poppy. I guess Poppy.

Just started a band everyone!

We were the NAKED CINDY TRIO when we did punk, but now that we're more indie rock, we go by Muff Sweat. I know, it's kinda gross, but you should hear 20 or so screaming "Muuuuuuufff Sweat!!!!!!!!!!!!", it's quite overwhelming and most excellent.

As for where we play: lots of cool, underground clubs in the Chicago area. Also, quite a few bar mitzvahs and post-prom parties.
