Journey

Post by Jizaboz »

I got the new local high score yesterday! Reclaimed rather. Over 160k points.. I will update once the arcade owner posts his “proof” as well as my photos.

Don’t know why I have such an obsession with this silly game but damn it I will retain my title as the master haha

Proof:

I wonder what the world high score for this game is? I noticed on youtube someone got around 200k via MAME but that of course doesn't count.

Hey! You didn't come to it with open arms...
Given the general rise in expenses and fall in the typical standard of living, the future ain't what it used to be.

Journey was kind of like Tron... everybody was good at some of the mini games but not very many people were good at all of them. I think I usually die around level two of Journey, and three of Tron. Nice score!

MIKEY NICE WORK

I am trying to see if I am going to be within 5 hours of that arcade in October, maybe?

The 2600 game Journey: Escape has nothing to do with this game, right?

Thanks! Yes, very much like Tron. Tron was always a favorite game of mine growing up, but certain mini-games in it are still so frustrating to me I've never really tried to score very high.. I like just seeing how many waves I can get through. I was on wave (or "level') 4 of Journey with this score just scrapping up a few more points in Steve Perry's mini game.

Haha I appreciate it. Oh man, that would be cool to meet you over there and show you the games at my house which is a little under a 30 minute drive from there.

So Journey Escape is actually a game I only recently discovered. A friend of mine when I first started playing the arcade game mentioned "Yeah my dad used to play that on the 2600 all the time." But, when I showed him the actual game he was like "Nahhh that ain't it." At random while looking for any other high score Journey vids on YouTube I discovered Journey: Escape and he confirmed that's the one his dad had! While it is definitely NOT the arcade game, this one could give some good practice of dodging vertically scrolling objects; which is a huge mechanic in the arcade game. There is also a little bit of 8-bit Journey music present.
