1. Fun Ben Gardner trivia: He was played by a Martha's Vineyard local named Craig Kingsbury, a real-life Quint who advised Robert Shaw on how to, basically, act like him. His scenes in the movie were pretty much just him being himself. He died a while back, but what you see on film is not an actor reading lines, it's a local portraying himself perfectly.

2. The scene where his head comes out of the boat was the last thing filmed, in the swimming pool in the back yard of editor Verna Fields' house.

3. I forget what else I had to say about this, but who the fuck voted "never seen it/don't remember it"? We're gonna have words.

I dug around in my books looking for my copy of The Jaws Log but there are too many bins to search through. I remember thinking the spoiler alert disclaimer about giving away how they built the shark was a little disingenuous.

Haven't seen it since I was, I dunno, eight or nine. I don't really remember much of "The Empire Strikes Back" either, if that eases the sting.
