Re: Are ya WATCHIN' IT?!
Not a single news source will cross my eyes until tomorrow morning. Uh... I mean, not a single news source will go past my eyes...I'm not looking at anything until Wednesday. The voting lines weren't as long as I anticipated tonight. They have it all pretty much down as far as sanitizing and the six foot thing. Plus it's all on a pad now, no more looking up my address in a big ledger book.

Well, that was a waste of time. How can there be no president after an election has ended?

Source: the article you linked to.A statement issued earlier by North Dakota’s attorney general Wayne Stenehjem said: “Votes cast for a deceased Bismarck-area state legislative candidate should be counted, and if he's elected it would create a vacancy to be filled.”
Mr Stenehjem said votes for Andahl must be counted, citing "the American rule," that votes for a deceased or disqualified candidate represents a choice by voters.
Now the job of finding Andahl’s replacement lies with the Republican party, which will assemble a committee for the purpose, although there may also be calls for a special election to be held.

We're gonna find out that he was stalling because he was putting the finishing touches on the formula for the covid cure, and then won't we all be sorry.

Slightly better now, I've been hearing all sorts of stuff at work. Actually seeing Biden is ahead makes the acid reflux settle down.

Why is it taking so long? They counted like from 0% to 95% of the votes in like 20 hours. Why does it need days to go from 95% to 100%?

It adds to the suspense. Plus they have to keep finding more fingers and toes to keep the count accurate

Re: Are ya WATCHIN' IT?!
It's complicated and there are a lot of factors. First of all, there were more mail-in (absentee) ballots cast this year than in any election in history. As long as the ballots were postmarked by 11/3 (the date of the election), they are legal and have to be counted. Some states wait up until 7 days for those to come in. On top of that, some states are not allowed to start counting mailed-in ballots until after the official voting period is over. Another issue is that in many states, the numbers are extremely close. In my state (Oklahoma), all 77 counties voted Republican (as usual). Based on trends, exit polls, early counts, I think it took them 20 minutes to mark Oklahoma as a win for Trump even though every vote could not have been counted in that short amount time. In states where the numbers are much closer, they have to get down to the very end before they announce anything. In addition to THAT, and I think this part is crazy, but many of these polling offices only have a handful of vote-counting machines, and now that the entire country is watching, they are going slow, being extra careful, and only updating their numbers once or twice a day.RealNC wrote: Fri Nov 06, 2020 1:32 pm Why is it taking so long? I saw a guy build a thing out of LEGO bricks and a Raspberry Pi that could solve a Rubik's cube in a matter of seconds. You would think someone could build a better vote-counting machine.

Re: Are ya WATCHIN' IT?!
Typically what happens with a state-level official who dies after the election has started - or even after ballots have been printed, or the closing date for ballots passes - depends on state law. Usually either the office remains vacant until a new election can be called, or, more likely, the Governor is allowed to appoint someone to serve the remainder of the person's term, and they are permitted to run for reelection.
Had you read the article all the way to the end, it would have answered your question: The state's AG said the Republican Party gets to pick his replacement.
