The 2015 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

It's time you guys learned what an offense is.

2B: Devon Travis. The best young second-baseman in the game. Came over this year for Anthony Gose who remained Anthony Gose. Our general manager, Alex Anthopolous, won this trade.

3B: Josh Donaldson. Best third baseman in the game.

RF: Jose Bautista. One of the best power-hitting outfielders in all of baseball. The Onion said no man is more clearly on steroids than Jose, but he has remained CLEAN. Doesn't just give you dingers, but gets on base and has historically had a good arm in right.

SS: Troy Tulowitzki. He is the best shortstop in baseball.

DH: Edward Encarnacion.

C: Russell Martin. One of the best-hitting catchers in baseball, also a great defender. Was leading the team in WAR (wins against replacement level)

1B: Chris Colabello or Justin Smoak. Either of these guys will crush lefty and righty pitching respectively. And they aren't too bad against the other side this year. An effective platoon. Sometimes Colabello plays left field.

CF: Kevin Pillar. Is what he is with the bat, but he's quick, a good base runner and was making web gem plays in center field all year.

LF: Chris Colabello or Danny Valencia or Michael Saunders depending on who is healthy or lineups or whatever else.

Let's not bring up pitching. This is YOUR best offense in baseball!

My Tulowitzki jersey arrived the other day. Mel and I decided to walk to get some food for dinner yesterday, so I wore it.

I had three people come up to me to talk, a couple people say hi quickly and one guy asked if he could take a picture of the jersey. This is the most social I've ever been!!!!!!!!!! (This was all five blocks from home.)

Tulo hasn't melted steel beams at the plate yet, but I'm sure that's coming.

Oh come on! A baseball team from Canada ain't a real baseball team. Just like those teams in Japan, it's laughably ridiculous to call them a real team.

They are guaranteed at least a wild card spot.

Any combination of Blue Jay wins and Yankee losses reaching six means they will win the AL East.

After 22 years, it is over, they will be in the playoffs again.

The new club president said he's going to resign our awesome general manager and waive the stupid "five year limit" the previous president put in for free agent pitchers, in order for us to make a competitive offer to David Price. Perfect.

Well, that was something.

After the craziest game in baseball history where the Toronto Blue Jays eliminated the Texas Rangers, we faced the Kansas City Royals for the right to go to the World Series.

And.... I dunno. The Royals took the first two games doing the stupid things the Royals do, like putting a guy who gets on base at a .250 clip at leadoff, and batting future near-HOFer Alex Gordon 8th. Sigh.

The Royals won with the Blue Jays having guys on second and third with no outs. Ryan Goins struck out. Ben Revere, our leadoff hitter (because Devon Travis is hurt and Troy Tulowitzki wasn't 100%) had a high ball called strike two and lost his mind.

This brought up the likely MVP for the AL, Josh Donaldson, who was not able to drive anyone home. It sucks, it hurts (I mean, not physically) and I hope everyone comes back next year.

I will say that I hope the knuckleball experiment ends in my lifetime. R.A. Dickey seems like a good guy and I don't begrudge him! But you can't have a knuckleballer start in the playoffs because there is a chance each day that he doesn't "have it" and then it's a lost game. He most certainly did not have it in game 4.

And in the end, the Royals are a good team with some guys you can like, although they are dominated by assholes. There isn't a doubt in my mind that if everyone on this year's Jays came back we'd wipe the floor with them. It feels good to hate a baseball team again. It feels good.... to hate.

(Oh, and everyone that says that baseball is boring is an enormous fucking moron. The playoff games are much more intense than whatever stupid nonsense you guys who think that are watching.)

Annnnnnnd our general manager, Alex Anthopoulos, is not coming back because the new president they hired (Mark Shapiro) "scolded" him for trading away so many prospects during their first and only meeting.

What a Toronto thing to do.

It's like a soccer team in the United States, it's absolutely irrelevant. In Canada, there is hockey, and everything else there in sports is marginal at best.

Sorry, I didn't mean to upset the applecart, but come on! When that Canadian hockey player - Gretsky, I think - decided to go play for an American team, there were threats of war and some Canadians wanted their military to go get him and return their "national treasure."

Care to say the same thing about any other sport in Canada?

But, let me ask the question, how do the Toronto Blue Jays compare in performance and games won vs. any top-line U.S. baseball team?
