I read something the other day that went along the following lines - a player for Oregon was suspended because he failed a drug test. He won't be playing in tonight's game, I assume.
Then it occurred to me that these guys aren't getting paid. The fuck are they drug testing them for? What the fuck?
With the money they generate they should be getting paid cold hard cash, but they aren't. But they can still be drug tested? The kid had marijuana in his system, which I thought was legal in Oregon, but maybe not.
I can see arguments to paying college football players and not paying them. Mostly I think the NCAA is one of the most corrupt organizations in human history and I am against whatever they are for. But drug testing your non-employees seems draconian even for them.
YOU GUYS PSYCHED ABOUT COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF

Weed's legal in Oregon starting in July. Regardless, even once it is, players will still be subject to school/NCAA rules and (presumably) won't be able to get high. Same reason you don't read about any of the Broncos starting a grow farm.
Agree with everything else you said -- the NCAA may be the most evil sports organization in the world, and in a world with FIFA, that's saying something.

I guess it is the arrogance of the NCAA, in so much as most of their history is filled with moth-like holes because they retroactively remove games from teams that won. It's so stupid and pointless.
Reggie Bush made them millions. Literally millions. To have the AUDACITY to say that the Heisman went "unawarded" that year is mind-boggling.
Pryor getting suspended in the NFL for what he did in college was this whole other thing.
