Recipe for the Greatest Burrito Pinback has EVA HAD!

Post by Retro »

Pinback decided to put into his chat status message a rather cryptic line: "I Correctly Anticipated The Greatest Burrito Ever" without adding any details.

However being the open, fun loving and caring guy he is, at my prompting he decided to share his secret recipe -

1. Make Chile Verde
2. Make Ben's World Famous Fiesta Rice
3. Roll in Burrito
4. Profit! (for your stomach)

But lets qualify these statements so that we humble, little beings of frozen burritos and questionable Mexican establishes can also partake in this gastronomic love.

1. The Chile Verde Recipe of DOOM:
  1. Roast tomatillos, jalapenos & poblanos
  2. Puree the green stuff (garlic, onions)
  3. Put this into a pot and simmer with chicken stock for 2 - 3 hours with your pork shoulder
  4. Add a dash of oregano, cumin and cloves
2. Bens WORLD FAMOUS Fiesta Rice!
  1. Cook a cup of white rice
  2. After fully cooked, add one lime per half cup (or to taste!)
  3. Add in cilantro
Then you roll this shit up and eat it (or in my case, deep fry it before consumption).

You got this all terribly wrong. I mean, look at this shit:
Puree the green stuff (garlic, onions)
Of all the ingredients I gave you, the only ones that are NOT green(*) are garlic and onions.

Please disregard the above recipe.

(*) I used three-month-old pork.

Look, I knew I was going to get it wrong even if I tried, but I want this recipe up and about because it will likely be what I cook for dinner sometime next week.

So Pinback: tell us the correct way to make the BEST BURRITO EVA!

Pinback admitted that my recipe was "close enough." And added the following hints:
Pinback wrote:That's close enough. Just puree the GREEN stuff, and SAUTE the garlic and onions before adding the puree. Also brown the pork first and set aside. [...] Also add some cilantro to the puree. Why not.
I feel vindicated.

I also don't remember the actual recipe. But sure. It was close. I was unfair and I apologize for my immature behavior.

I generally agree, but with chile verde the lime rice is just the perfect accompaniment.

We are now enemies.
