I love muenster cheese. I get the deli-sliced pack from Target, it's $2.50 for 8 oz in 12 slices. While I get it primarily for cheeseburgers, I will often get an extra pack because it's one of the few cheeses that are tasty to eat by itself.
It's a nice, smooth cheese, very mild, with a slight nutty flavor and just a hint of sharpness like in cheddar.
I decided to also buy some sliced mozzarella, and I discovered it doesn't work very well for putting on burgers, while it's a nice cheese, it doesn't really melt properly if it runs over the edge. It just tends to burn into slag.
I then realized that I recognized mozzarella as string cheese.

Usually one per patty. I usually make double cheeseburgers, so, obviously, that's two per burger. I'll make two burgers. If I haven't eaten a lot that will hit the spot. When I make cheeseburgers for lunch I usually have a single one, double cheeseburger.ChainGangGuy wrote:How many slices (be it Muenster or whatever) do you prefer atop your c-burgers, Paul?
Funny you mentioned Jimmy Buffett, I remember of the song "Cheeseburger in Paradise" although most of the words escaped me.pinback wrote:"Medium-rare, with muenster'd be nice."

I wanted to mention one other thing. One guy was talking about what are good cheeses, and I said "I'm monster about muenster. And, of course, there is the premiere development in genetic engineering, Velveeta."
He didn't get it.

Wish granted, I'm editing the video right now.AArdvark wrote:Cheeseburger.....no, double cheeseburger food video!
One note, I did the video at 640x480 so that I can edit it; Windows Movie Maker has problems with HD video. Well, my new camera - bought with my new Amazon.com store credit card - creates about an 18-minute video of what I'm doing, presumably uncompressed because it is a whopping 550 megabytes!

I can't fahking stand Jimmy Buttfeh, but I've never had muenster on a cheeseburger. Only on a cold deli meat sandwich. Now I have to try this.Tdarcos wrote:Funny you mentioned Jimmy Buffett, I remember of the song "Cheeseburger in Paradise" although most of the words escaped me.pinback wrote:"Medium-rare, with muenster'd be nice."
