Total Recall 2012 vs. Breaking Bad

Post by Someone Else »

If I hadn't been told about it, I wouldn't have noticed that the guy that plays Cohaagen in the 2012 remake of Total Recall is none other than Brian Cranston, anti-hero of the AMC series Breaking Bad. (You can't very well call a meth-manufacturing mass-murderer a hero. But they get a lot of credit that you can still like the guy.)

His performance and appearance reminds me of Richard Crenna (Rambo's commander in First Blood.) And he's got hair!

"Breaking Bad. Available on cable and satellite. Not available on Dish." Hey, motherfucker, what the hell do you think Dish Network is, a couple of transistor radio walkie talkies?

Huh, what?

These shows have absolutely nothing similar except for a titular character. Besides that, I thought the new Total Recall was a decent popcorn flick, even though it lacked substance or anything even mildly risque.

Here a question - why was it okay to show a woman with three tits in the 80s but anathema for 2012?

Retro

PS I'm also a sucker for any movie that portrays a coherent image of the future. Except for RepoMen - god was that movie awful.

The question is, "why?" Why would you have a woman with three tits? In Total Recall 1989, Cohaagen built cheap domes that did not protect against cosmic rays, leading to genetic mutations in the offspring of the people there.

How do you get a 3-tit woman on earth since we don't have the conditions to generate horrible mutations on the scale that Mars did? (You can thank the Ozone layer for preventing this.)
Given the general rise in expenses and fall in the typical standard of living, the future ain't what it used to be.
