Is Clemens dead if he pitches at Shea?

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

I mean, he won't. I get that. He didn't last year and Torre won't let him this year (it has not been announced as such, but come on).

His recent antics with Bonds at the safe haven of his AL park nicely got everyone frothing at what a complete pussy the guy is if he doesn't pitch where he has to bat. But the thing is, if the Mets do not call every single pitch to be thrown at 95 mph right towards his head how can they possibly save face? Killing him is the only way.

So I guess Torre is right to make the ultimate decision to give him the day off. Unless he thinks Piazza is a pussy of a completely different breed and that he won't call for the appropriate head hunting behind the plate that is so richly deserved. Which, hell, may be possible.

(Jesus, re-reading this, I see that I am calling out one millionaire for not trying to slay another. I guess, since they are all wealthy beyond belief, that it makes it better than laying odds on the ragtag bunch of Christians going up against the lions. Hell, maybe not. I don't know.)

A final note, actually more of a question -- did anyone see the pitch that Russ Ortitz threw at Giambi? I didn't see it, and I am genuinely curious as to how vicious it was. I didn't see Giambi with a HBP in the box score or anything, but I have read that it was "at his head." The way it's supposed to work is that when your best player gets thrown at, you do the same to the other team's best guy (and then an ump, who let the first purpose pitch goes, warns *you* for retaliation, in unfortunate accordance with MLB's Fucked Up Rule #3,207). I don't know if throwing at Giambi's head and missing is the same as actually hitting him, but at waist-level. That's one to debate for the ages, I guess.

I did state an if clause where it was "if Torre thinks Piazza is a pussy," but Piazza had no problem calling for a brushback pitch. Estes just threw it at his ankles instead of his head.

Congratulations to any Mets fan -- you team will not matter until every guy on the roster is OFF the roster. There are like four other shitty teams trying to win the shitty NL East and they all know now that they can throw as many pitches at the heads -- the FUCKING HEADS -- of the Mets and nothing will happen. I mean, Burnitz got shellacked the night before that game.

All the talking heads and all the lousy sportscasters that said, "Hahah ha! The MEts got revengeE!!!! They won the game 8-0!!!" need to shut up as well. They didn't win anything, except first place in a Show Off Your Vagina competition.
