Breaking a Directv contract

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

Maybe someone here can help.

Directv is raising their rates 4%. I do not wish to pay them anything, much less 4% more. (They had the audacity to state that THEY are being charged 10% more by the companies that run the channels they allow.)

I only get them because I need to subscribe to the NFL Ticket for Saints games. If there's other TV shows I want to watch, I watch them on my computer.

So, here's the thing. They changed the contract. I can break with no penalty now, right?

This would seem to indicate that I can. I just want to wait until after the NFL playoffs.

You can decline the terms of a changed contract but you have to do it pretty much immediately, i.e. within a month or so. You won't be able to wait around and then in the spring say, "Wait I didn't want this after all."

In any case it will be a hassle.
