yo, straw: headphones

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

Hey, is there a particular pair that you can recommend these days? I'd like to keep it under $60, but if you use one which is more than that, that's cool too. I re-organized my room and the $8 ones I was previously using no longer reach from my receiver to my desk.

Grado SR-60 headphones. Cost about $69, and sound better than anything you'll find at that price. I have 'em, and am exceptionally pleased with them. They also have 6-foot cables so they'll reach father than most.

If you can't find 'em locally, Audio Advisor (www.audioadvisor.com) has 'em.

I use the black Sony's, never had a problem with them and they come with the 1/8" to 1/4" adapter that screws in so you don't lose it.
I tried the silver ones too but they're too heavy.
Er, I'm talking about DJ phones, "the black ones" is pretty vague. MDR-V500

Thanks, guys, for the heads-up. I have been using headphones included with CD/MP3 players forever now, and they can't last 12 months. I am hardly taking them anywhere, either, just plugging them into my receiver while I game it or write code at night. I'll give something more substantial a try and if the headphone industry STILL fucks me, I'll shoot up a Best Buy.

DJ headphones might be right up your alley then. The quality is not up to audiophile standards but they are loud and rugged. If my headphones can withstand 3 years of constant abuse by random choads, they can stand being plugged into your computer. And having the swivel cup mechanism is useful to more than just DJ's...

Put down the assault rifle, RobB. It's gonna be OK.
