Anyone going apeshit over the new Beatles remasters?

I just picked up Cheap Tricks' Sgt. Pepper Live over the weekend. On the 40th anniversary of Sgt. Pepper, Cheap Trick played the entire album from beginning to end with help from the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. If you like the Beatles, Cheap Trick and especially Sgt. Pepper, you'll dig it.

I never really listened to the Beatles. They were before my time, and while I'm certainly aware of their importance to modern music, I never familiarized myself with their output.

However, the release of the remasters spurred me to download their discography and give it a listen, and HOLY SHIT. I am insane for not listening to this stuff sooner. It is unbelievably good. Like, breathtakingly so.

Like a lot of bands, some of the early stuff is pretty simple and some of the later stuff is a bit too experimental for my taste (I never got into George's whole Eastern Indian music), but yeah, when they were good, they were good. If downloading the entire catalog is overwhelming, start with "Beatles - 1" which is 30 or so of their singles that hit #1. Hard to find anything bad on that one. My favorite full albums are Sgt. Pepper's, Abbey Road, Revolver and the White Album. Those are all pretty chock full of hits.

Kurt Cobain repeatedly cited the Beatles as a major influence, and many of Nirvana's poppier songs (About a Girl) sound like Beatles songs with distortion.
