Detroit Lions vs New Orleans Saints

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

Good morning.

I'd like to start a new thread for the upcoming Detroit Lions vs New Orleans Saints game. I have been a fan of the Saints for as long as I can remember. This has all the makings of a debacle.

Let me explain why: it's 13 games into the season, and Detroit hasn't beat anyone yet. They are 0-13.

For dozens of years, with the possible exception of the Jim Mora era, I have watched the New Orleans Saints do two things:

1) Lose to rookie QBs (consistently... consistently)
2) Lose to teams with zero victories.

Mike Ditka said, regarding this, that "they were the elixir for the rest of the league." Just the fact that Ditka knew the word elixir was amazing. But still, it hasn't changed, and I refuse to take my team and its staff seriously until we stop losing to winless teams.

(We gave the Rams their first victory 8 games into the season last year. We lost to the only rookie QB we've played so far -- Matt Ryan of the Falcons, in week 10.)

The Detroit Lions are starting Daunte Culpepper, and this is the best guy who has played QB for them in years. I can't recall the Saints ever beating a team led by Culpepper, and in fact, at least one embarrassing playoff loss was at his hands (and Randy Moss, who outran our secondary all day).

So, the Culpepper thing may outdo the not-a-rookie-QB thing.

I want to believe in my team, but Jesus Christ. On paper, the Saints should score about 200 points against the Lions. We'll see how it goes.

There is no way the Saints will win this game, none.

I am friends with a sad Detroit fan and even he says the Lions have this one.

Haha, I forgot about (but knew) that. Okay, I am officially changing my attitude about the game now. The Saints will score 200 points.
