Christ, I think I had an iron deficiency

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

A while back, I wrote this WAAAAAARGH shit about wanting to spend too much time with text games. I was a wreck.

Because I don't want to be fucking dead in five years, I decided to make some changes to my life, which include occassionally typing something other than "Mr. Do! level" into a search engine.

I was learning about iron tonight, and found the following:
Iron Deficiency Symptoms
Easily irritable
Rapid heart rate
Easily Exhausted
More prone to infection
Pale Appearance
Poor appetite
Shorter attention span
Well! At some point, there is no difference between an iron deficiency and being a complete and total gasser. Let's go down the list!

* Easily irritable

I had this! In fact, I would also turn on the AM stations to simply get worked up. In the last two weeks I have listened to zero talk radio. How do I feel about things? Less irritable!

* Rapid heart rate

I am not sure what they mean by this. Only on our Internet do they try to conserve space. It got rapid trying to do shit, but my blood pressure was otherwise normal? Maybe I had this.

* Easily Exhausted

Definitely had this! Time was, I could only do one of your mothers, but now I think I could two, maybe three, of my valued posters' mothers. So that is an improvement.

* More prone to infection

I don't think I had this. FACTS ABOUT A COMPLETE GEEK - I did a superhero text game a while back and tried to think of autobiographical powers. I couldn't! I have no powers! The only thing I could think of was... I don't get sick much? So that is what I gave the main character. I'm sure I will end up with some horrible cancer, and then we'll all be able to slap me on the back with how sick I'm "not."

* Pale Appearance

I had this! DUde! I had this! But this is because I didn't go out of doors much, too. So who knows. They probably just put this one on as a shot to anyone who might be going to their page. If carpel tunnel syndrome shows up, we'll know for sure.

* Poor appetite

Not sure how it can be "poor"? I was hungry lots, does that count?

* Shorter attention span

This was me, too. I definitely had this.

So, I don't know. I SUSPECT I didn't have an iron problem because of all the red meat I ate, but I was definitely lacking in fish and spinach and so forth. I have been starting my mornings with either a little yogurt, or a "wad" of spinach, so hopefully, in addition to some vitamins, I can stave off death a little longer.

On spinach, real quick: I find that if you pretend it's tobacco, it really does make the can go quickly. Unfortunately, you'll need a source of plastic bottles for the spit okay that's an unpleasant visual i apologize

Oh! It's also been two weeks since red meat and I don't miss it much. I have found that when you have a sixth grader's cravings for like three foods, it becomes easier to switch to better things because you are only "losing" three foods in the entire library of foods, from all time.

The problem was that the "red meat" thing was literally that - we'd get carne asada and I'd try it raw with the cats. It just seemed decadent and I guess I was psychologically / sub-consciously trying to get a tapeworm. I am also susceptible to peer pressure, and with five cats, there was always pressure.

My days of eating a little raw carne asada are over, which means my days of having to be polite in Carnicerias are over as well.

MEANWHILE, THE NEXT TIME ICJ GOES TO A CARNICERIA

GIMME THE FOOKING GOOD SHIT, PABLO! OLE, LA CUCARACHA!

(Please excuse my Dinosaur Comics phase. There will be lots of meanwhiles for the next week or two.)

Flintstones vitamins and a glass of V8 for breakfast will cure anything.

I had this broken finger one time, and after six weeks it got all better. I owe it all to breakfast. I dunno about the pale appearance thing, tho.

I'm on vitamins. I was going to get the chewable kind, but I had a self moment: what am I, four? The great part is that it doesn't even give you everything you need for an entire day, BUT they tell you not to take more than one. I guess I got the vitamins that aren't anticipating the zombie holocaust.
