The Bills' third string running back ran for 22 yards. Needless to say, Taylor's backup was on the field for the next play.Bugs wrote:I have no idea. Silly me for thinking that Joe Gibbs is in complete control of his team:
You have probably heard Washington's two big headlines from Sunday by now. In an attempt to fire up his unit, assistant head coach in charge of defense Gregg Williams told his players on Saturday night they would play the Bills' first offensive snap with 10 players, as a tribute to the absent Taylor.
"When coach told us that," Fletcher told me Sunday night, "I can't tell you how excited we were. We thought it was a perfect tribute to Sean." One problem: Williams neglected to tell Joe Gibbs, who, from all indications, did not know about it until the game began.

Seriously, I think it was a stupid "tribute." All the maudlin video footage of player interviews talked about how "Sean would want us to play hard" and "Sean can still play, but through us now."
Something tells me, if Sean was indeed up there chilling out with invisible sky wizards, and if he was indeed a gamer, then he was probably pretty pissed off at the missing man formation.
Hang the banners, play the videos, silence the moments, but play the fucking game.

Really? I thought it was awesome. If the Redskins had managed a sack rather than a 22 yard gain it would have been better. And in fact, by Joe Gibbs being unaware that it was going on ... well, fans of all teams get to enjoy it.Bugs wrote:Seriously, I think it was a stupid "tribute." The Saints have never had an even remotely competent coach, so as you can guess I am quite enjoying Gibbs destroying his legacy with the Redskins these last few seasons.

The Wizards were down the street! Hahahahha! Mooo-hooo-hooo-hahaha! Oi oi yip!
Nah, brah it's cool if you don't believe in God, so long as you don't exchange gifts with anyone for Christmas.

Real life football: Bucs manage to lose to a team that started Sage Rosenfels and was down to its third-string running back by the end of the game. It makes it kind of hard to cheer really hard when you know that your team is likely to get stomped in the first round of the playoffs.
Fantasy football: somehow tied with Mike for first, despite scoring fewer points than most of the other players for most of the season. Whatever happens from here on out, I think we can agree that Melville's Tragic Loners are the feel-good story of 2007. Thank you, Drew Brees. All is forgiven.

Yeah, they all kind of laughed at you because you were the new guy. Well, I'm not laughing right now. 9-2 is the closest I have ever come to winning money in that GOD DAMN league and now it's slipping away like the Saints' playoff chances. Mathematically alive, but let's get serious.
If you win money in your second year in the league I am going to be very happy for you, don't get me wrong. I'm not the kind of person who will say, "Hey! I hope you get paid in hambones and choke on them!" I don't believe in blowing out someone else's candle in order to make yours burn brighter.
In fact, to be honest, I am rooting for you because most of the other animals on that site are colluding tatterdemalions and I -- well, that's another thread.

Well, one week closer to glory. Of course, Mike is also one week closer to glory, and I think he beats me in just about every tiebreaker.
Meanwhile: Michael Spurlock. Greatest thing I've seen all season. Never again will we see the graphic: "Tampa Bay has never returned a kickoff for a touchdown."
Now it will be "Tampa Bay has only returned one kickoff for a touchdown."

They will totally use that one. When Hakim Dropped The Ball, yeah, you never saw the graphic that said, "The Saints Have Never Won a Playoff Game"... it switched to how they've won one.
Sportswriters, no offense to anyone out there, are pretty fucking lazy sometimes.
And congrats on your boys winning the division!

Watch how Jonsey and I now BOND TOGETHER to root for the CHICAGO BEARS tonight, to give his disgusting Saints, and my even-more-pathetic Redskins a chance to GET INTO THE PLAYOFFS and get stomped immediately!
(Of course I am really rooting for the Patriots now because I am a front-running phony, but this will have to do.)

Now watch and Jonsey and I BOND TOGETHER in hoping that our teams win and the Vikings LOSE next week!
Then if that happens we will BOND, continuing to hope for a Vikings loss, but then also become ENEMIES, as we hope for the others' team's loss and our team's win.
Of course, I don't know all the tiebreakers, so it might be far less complicated than I'm making it out.

Adrian Peterson - the one for the Vikings, not the one for the Bears (whom I think should call himself "Dre Peterson," because, Jesus Christ) isn't going to let the Vikings miss the playoffs. No more than Reggie Bush was going to allow it last year.
We're doomed, Sports Pinner.
I've HEARD that if the Vikes lose one more game and everyone else (Saints, Skins, Panthers) win out, the Saints are in because of their conference record. Don't quote me, though.
The Saints finish up their regular season schedule with the same two teams they played in the playoffs last year, in order (Eagles and Bears). I hate Eagle fans, as a general rule.
