I'm not sure I can fully explain why I liked this movie so much, but it was wonderful. Even if it was just the imagery of Hugh Jackman in the orb that contained a tree, flying through space - that would have been enough.
How many stars are we on? Out of five, right? Then this is ****.

This was a movie that is very hard to dislike, but I found also hard to totally love.
It is a movie where the filmmaker just tries to fit everything he ever wanted to do into a movie into a single movie -- the interview with Aronofsky confirmed as much, this was the first movie he wanted to make, but couldn't until he had had some success -- and it's just too much, squozed into too small a place.
So in the end, it gets by on imagery and enthusiasm, which for me is not enough to call it great, but enough to call it good.
***.

That's the wrong video, by the way.
