Substitute teacher faces 40 years for endless porn popups

(which is probably bollox.) Seriously--can someone find a more legit news source for this? Because if it's actually true... I mean, wow. Seriously, no words.

On the bright side, any even halfway compitent lawyer should be slavering at an opportunity to represent the teacher. Jesus Christ, talk about a slam dunk. WHoever's defending her presently needs to be shot through the lungs, seriously, Jack the freaking ripper could convince a jury that this is bullshit.

Apparently, the defense attorney was handycapped by the fact that he didn't tell the prosecuting attorney beforehand that he intended to use a demonstration of how a computer can get stuck in a loop of porn popups in the trial. On one hand, I guess that's what you get for not following protocol, but on the other, what the fuck is wrong with the prosecutor?

So the question here is really; Were the popups intentional? Was the sub trying to show them to the students? Obviously failing to TURN OFF THE MACHINE (or at least the monitor) will probably be an issue here.
Click!
Ok kids! Half hour of study time while I figure out this computer problem.

THAT WAS EASY

Yeah, I wonder about that, too, except I know alot of adults who can't get the porn off their computer knowing there was some there, adults who can't get the porn off not knowing it was there, a minister who was caught with porn, and students who just clicked through Fark links or some shit and got accidental porn. Not that they would not have looked, but still, most people hide that shit pretty well. If I had to guess, someone was looking at porn at some point, and it was either her or someone who worked there, but it wouldn't go away.

Two other factors:AArdvark wrote:So the question here is really; Were the popups intentional? Was the sub trying to show them to the students? Obviously failing to TURN OFF THE MACHINE (or at least the monitor) will probably be an issue here.
School policy said "THOU SHALT NOT TURN OFF THE COMPUTER," and the school administration had let the anti-malware subscriptions on the PCs expire.

THe kid went to, I believe, crayola. Or something like that--if i had to guess, the student mistyped somewhere and got one of those spam-squatter URLS that take misspelled domain names of popular websites like livejorunal or, actually, joltocuntry. As for "thou shalt not turn off hte computer", come on--she's a SUBSTITUTE. She can't be expected to know the real teacher's password for the machine.

Holy jesus, I heard the whole update on this case this morning on the radio.
Of all the people interviewed that are connected in any way with this case, including lawyers, school officials and the teacher herself, not a one of them sounds like they have the faintest idea how the internet or computers work. They all sounded vaguely like Sen. Ted Stevens from Alaska and his "tubes" speech. The teacher's main defense, and I swear I'm not making this up, is that she didn't know HOW to UNPLUG the computer because she is "COMPUTER ILLITERATE."
But 40 fucking years?? Seriously, would she get that much for standing out in the parking lot offering kids drugs?

This is the first I've heard of this nonsense. The joltocuntry line is very funny.
This is what you get in a nanny police state. Nobody will say, "Fuck your children," ergo, the "For the children" laws get past and people sit there and beam because they were VERY IMPORTANT today and put a law on the books giving someone 40 years fow showing porn to school kids when murder gets you 25. I'll probably have kids one day, thus making my opinions about any and all aspects of law, politics and important decisions null and void. Look at this shit. I know nobody here, even if they have kids, is remotely like these people, but this is what they wanted. This didn't happen by accident.
(Man, this drive-by opinion thing is fun.)
The school had an edict about not turning off the PC under any circumstances? Ha ha ha. I'd love to send my kids to this school so I can reach my long-term goal of supporting them for the entirety of my life and theirs.

Holy crap, Lysander wasn't kidding. joltocuntry was actually purchased by some asshole in January, as was joltcontry.com, joltcountyr.com and joltcoutnry.com. Morons. This website doesn't make ME any godddamn money. I know they don't have to pay for the URL they buy for the first five days, but still. I hope they made the most of the two visits. Actually, they can't make any less than what I "earn" through AdSense, so power to them. I should ask them for tips.
