[CD] Acceptance - Phantoms plus BONUS

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

You know, I didn't actually comprehend the title of this disc until I went to write this review. "Phantoms." It's perfect.

I think one of the best discs ever made is Katatonia's "Viva Emptiness." Of course, as far as I know Katatonia never made another disc like that... which is a horrible loss for mankind. I talk, in the other thread, about how poor it is for us to live in a world where Madden football got big, well friends... it is equally poor that Katatonia didn't make four discs like ole Viva SHITE.

Acceptance by Phantoms doesn't sound like Katatonia, but they are going for the same vibe all the way through. Unlike virtually all of the albums I listen to the last track isn't stupid filler, for instance. It's actually one of the better songs. Amazing. Stunning.

It's good all the way through. I don't know if Vitriola has been noticing the songs I've been humming the last week, but they all have come from this disc.

****1/2 out of 5

BONUS

My Chemical Romance: The Black Parade

I can't remember if I reviewed this one or not so my out is to attach it to this review. Even though it's probably illegal to admit enjoying this band in at home several southern states within the Bible Belt, the fruitcakes that make up this band successfully passed the "I can't help what I listen to" test.

"Welcome to the Black Parade" will be played on the radio not only every single day until Christmas, but every single day until the end of time. They are Queen mixed with Green Day (er, kind of) and that's perfectly fine for me. The album falls apart a little at the end, but the stuff at the beginning makes up for it.

**** out of 5.

Oh yeah. Track 7 on "Phantoms" is a song called, "This Conversation is Over," which is a phrase Clash used that I later used in the Necrotic Drift manual because I can't get enough Clash in my life.

Details like that enrich life.

Wait, "interview" not "conversation." Crap.
