My USB hard drive's cable was pretty badly broken so I go out and buy a new one. I plug it in, the head skips off the track. Now whenever I turn it on rather than spinning up the drive just clicks. Is there anything I can do short of getting someone to bust open the enclosure?

Update! THe drive works on the back USB ports. Plugging it into one results in the afore-mentioned clicking, plugging it into the other front port results in it spinning up but WIndows not detecting it. So that's two out of four USB ports on this brand new computer that are toast two weeks after I get it. Fantastic.
