Sony finally shut down Lik-Sang

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

I could give a crap about Sony's IP because they are perfectly content to let us live in a world with zero technological advances until they said so. But Lik-Sang sold a number of interesting items that had nothing to do with copyright infringement. I got my Dreamcast coder's cable (whatever it's called) from them many years ago.

The thought that a hardware manufacturer can tell you what you can and cannot do with hardware that YOU bought is alien to me. I know that plenty of people were just using Lik-Sang's stuff to warez games, but still. I guess they can start a new company with the more legit stuff.

Annnnnnnnd apparently Sony executives bought shit from Lik-Sang all the time. Still looking for details. Some of that may not be true. Whatever, it's true enough for this BBS.

It is almost certainly true: We live in Europe. We are blessed with games up to two years after they come out in America. And when they do come out? They either run at 5/6ths speed because they can only be arsed to sync the clock for us 50Hz users, or have ugly black bars because they can't be arsed giving us the extra 200 lines our formats can support.

We needed Lik Sang. It was our way of getting games for 1. a fair price, 2. were as the artist's intended and 3. before the release of the next console generation.

I do not want to drop $90 for an Xbox 360 game.
