Well, that was a disaster. Stupid work.
At least the computer didn't do better and show me up -- how did I end up with five quarterbacks or whatever?

Someday, when we're having beers, I'll tell you the story of the first rounds (where the computer wasn't doing the work). But now, it's still too fresh.
The rest, after I went on autopilot, was just a blur of insane work -- seriously, 19 times out of 20, 6:30 pm on Saturday is a nice and easy time for me, and tonight just went nuts -- and occasionally logging back on to see either a) someone I'd wanted going right before my pick, or b) someone saying "does this D'Avis guy even watch football?" after I'd picked a Bengal who murdered eight people or something. Oy.
But my five-quarterback attack is gonna be pretty damn tough to stop.

Every goddamn time there is a new person I have to hear the bitter assholes in that league instantly start making the, "That's the worst pick ever!!!" commentary. Every freaking time.gsdgsd wrote:Someday, when we're having beers, I'll tell you the story of the first rounds (where the computer wasn't doing the work). But now, it's still too fresh.
It's also somehow possible to make a terrible pick in the 6th round of a 12 person league. I don't know how, but it is.
The best part is seeing someone just snap about all the crappy drafting going on and then they themselves go and take an Eagles receiver or a Jet running back or find a way to take a Cardinal Offensive Lineman with thier next pick.
I am basically surrounded by negativity in the whole of my existance, Greg, and I do my best to hang around nice people like yourself so that I stay sane.
The first year the Milker was in the league he was absolutely barrelled by the dicks in that league about his shitty drafting. He took second place out of twelve (1st and 2nd pay money). He also won the league outright at one point.
Last year we weren't using CBS and I fucked up and traded my first pick (Culpepper) later in the draft for someone's 3rd and 5th. It ended up being Roy Williams (the shitty one) and Vanderjagt. Since we didn't have CBS's software, I had to update an FTP site after each pick, go through Yahoo IM to do the draft and then deal with the two guys who were doing it through the phone. Not that there's much of an excuse. At the time it was the worst trade in history... but then Culpepper blew through his knee ligaments like they were juicy cocks. (I am trying to say that he's a homo here and I hate him.)
But according to the league filled with angry, offensive people with absolutely no tact whatsoever, the season doesn't even need to be played after the draft is done. We used to do pre-season rankings of each other's teams but stopped due to the problems it caused.

Anyway, shez, don't worry about it. I would've been disappointed had there not been shit-talking. Hasselbeck was a mistake (though did your brother really predict he'll be outscored by Favre? That's the kind of stuff that will go up on the imaginary bulletin board when I give my imaginary team a pep talk before our imaginary games, before I burst into tears contemplating my empty life), but if I'd picked Jordan first and Hasselbeck second, it would probably just be rather curious.
I realized how unused I am to doing this with people who know what they're doing. I really -- REALLY -- thought I was the only person who'd think of taking an unknown like Tiki Barber in the first round, since CBS had him ranked some bizarre shit like 29th. When both he and Manning were gone by my pick, and with the Middle East blowing the fuck up back in real life, I panicked. Live and learn.
