Oh. And the same guy, J.P., the GM, ripped the "three, four and five" batters before the All-Star break, saying that they were "killing the team." Two of those guys went to the All-Star game and Toronto had one of the best offenses in baseball for the first half of the season.

Maybe that comment came out while he was getting a cucumber paste facial.

Jesus, how many cucumbers would a guy have to eat before that happened?

Ha!

Anyway, the Jays did get a pitcher in return for Shea and Vinnie Chulk, from the Giants. He's probably a reliever at best, but the good thing is that the Jays don't have to eat any of Shea's salary, clearing a little room for possible additions before the trade deadline.

Yeah, I'm starting to develop concern in RE: the A.J. Burnett issue.

Gotta say this is probably it. No pitching help at the deadline, the guys in Syracuse all fucking suck and the Phils decided that this would be the year where they did the right thing and give two decent players to the Yankees for their minor league garbage. Way to go, Phillies! Seriously, WHY THE FUCK does anyone trade with New York any more? Is there a list of top prospects that they give away that I am missing? I'm serious here. All I recall is that Gord Ash would send guys over to the Yanks and we got a bunch of shit in return. It's very simple:

East coast media bias +
Retarded Yankee fans who over-inflate their horrible prospects +
----------------------
Major-league ready players traded for terrible never-will-bes

Nobody that the Phils got will equal Abreu's contributions in up to four years. Bank on it.

Eric Hinske was just traded to the Boston Red Sox.

Hahahah, what THE FUCK, J.P.!?!? Who gave you advice on that one, Gord Ash?

WHY THE FUCK ARE THE JAYS CONSTANTLY TRADING GOOD PLAYERS IN THE DIVISION. WE WILL FACE THEM NINETEEN FUCKING TIMES WHEN YOU DO THAT. JESUS FUCKING CHRIST. FIGURE IT OUT!

Gibbons and Lilly had it out in the dugout tonight after Lilly was pulled for giving up 7 runs (with an 8 run lead!). Gibbons shoved Lilly, and at the end of it all, Gibbons had a bloody nose.

Fantastic. Just like Major League. This team is falling apart.

Yeah, Gibbons needs to calm down a little. I don't remember these things happening with Cito (who should manage the team any time it has a shot at the post-season. I so decree).

What amazes me is the sweep we just saw, of Boston at the hands of New York. A team like Toronto reminds me of many Saints teams I've seen. I apologize if I am repeating myself, but I can't be bothered to scroll up.

The Saints have a wonderful ability to quit on the season in like week 4. I've seen it happen. It happened last year by week five. The Jays basically quit (as a team) a while back, which was stupid because there's so much time left.

The White Sox pitchers are HORRIBLE. You ask a guy who has Buehrle in fantasy baseball if he'd ever have him again. You can ask me. I never, EVER would. And way too many writers were like, "WHA HUH???" when he started to go to shit.

The Twins were beatable once Liriano went down. Jesus Christ, how can the Jays PLAY on a team that lost two of their three (Fuck You Lilly) pitchers to arm injury and not think for a second that it might happen to one of Minnesota's pitchers?

I will give the Jays credit for not believing that Boston could fail. They have not had a long history of choking against New York or anything, so it's totally normal to expect that they would have swept this series; kind of odd how it turned out.

To see these guys quit, as a team, it's just - Jesus Christ. I mean, obviously you don't "quit" when you are up there are the plate and really, one could point the finger at a few guys who were more than responsible for why the team sucked. Guys like Towers (those 10 games he lost killed us. Just killed us, psychologically). And Adams (I liked how he basically got the yips in the field to go with his horrible batting. If he could throw from second to first better than me he'd be in the major leagues right now. That's frigging pathetic). And the 4th and 5th starter for most of the year and the middle relievers and blah blah blah.

What a waste of a season. They need to start the extension on Wells right now because without the lineup this team has absolutely nothing to offer. There are three major league pitchers on the team right now - Doc, B.J. and A.J. every other start. So really, two and a half. I really don't want to hear old man Rogers crying poor, especially since they cry like babies when the Canadian dollar is weak against our shitty dollar. Well, Canadian money is worth a lot more than it used to be, so we'd better hear the reverse. The reverse of crying which I'll take to be the sound of Vernon Wells signing an extension.

Fucking baseball. When is the collective bargaining agreement up so I can hope, in futility, for a cap?

Haha Ted Lilly and Gibbons got in a fucking fight and Lilly socked him in the nose. I'd say your manager is lot like Billy Martin, except.
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2556925

1. Billy Martin won games
2. Billy Martin would never let a guy named "Lilly" whose nicklame is "The Pad" sock him in the face. Dale Berra?? Thats another story.
the last group complained, quite tellingly They said, "Why don't you have a spoon that just says 'Earth?' It would save time

I was going to watch the last Halladay start and then cancel MLB.tv, but didn't quite get around to it. (Roy Halladay let in one run in 7 innings... and the Jays lost 7-2. Everyone on that team should fucking apologize to him, and I have NEVER thought that about a Blue Jay pitcher before.)

Well, the Jays announced that they are upping the payroll for next year. Excellent. Sort of inexcuseable if they don't, because of the whining that goes on when the Canadian dollar is low compared to the American one -- now that the opposite is trending, they SHOULD spend more.

If they get Vernon Wells signed to an extension and use this money on two starting pitchers that can help we're in great shape. There's still a chance the Jays finish in second this year, which would be a big step forwards in and of itself.

Halladay took a pitch to the elbow, literally, minutes after MLB.tv charged me for the next month. Holy crap. Though at this point I would like to finish out the season and see them get into second place. ... still. Eerie.

They do know your favorite team (not that they appear to do anything with it: you still have to click in like three places before getting your favorite team's game to come up, all while battling the most annoying announcer in the planet in Joe Buck calling the final out of last year's World Series) but I find it tough to believe that they had an intern watching the Toronto game and then he spits his soda out as Halladay comes off the mound and radios into Bud Selig. "Bud!!!" he exclaims, "Charge the Blue Jay fans! Now! While there's still time!!!!"

And Bud does it.

...and so we end the season on a high note with a 9th inning rally to beat the Yankees and secure sole possession of second place. It's not what we hoped for, but it's something.

Take away Josh Towers' 0-10 start to the season, and, well. Sigh.

For once we can say "Just wait 'til next year" and mean it.

Exactly. They say every team just needs one or two more quality starters.... but honestly, we just needed one or two more quality starters!

Halladay: The forearm trouble is worrisome. Basically, we're dead if he can't play for an extended period of time.

Burnett: He turned it around. You hate to think that a win is worth around a million dollars, but if his arm troubles are over I am really happy with him.

Chacin: The fellas seem to score for him. Right on.

I suspect that Lily will be gone. If Downs could pitch 180 innings of 4.14 ERA ball that would be great, but... well...

So yeah, a couple new pitchers. If they come from the farm system then that would be great, but they may have to go get them from elsewhere.
