The Toronto Blue Jays Are in First Place

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

This thread will be updated each and every day that the Toronto Blue Jays are in first place. I hope it will become completely insufferable and cause at least one real-life fist fight.

I just recently watched my 1993 World Series highlight video. I still love watching those half-bright mulleted dickwads get beaten like gongs.

Man, they got stuck with playing on Patriots Day this year. Patriots Day WITH Schilling for chrisssakake.

I'm not throwing in the towel or anything, but no matter what happens it beats the 0-8 start from last year. And you gotta like Reed Johnson getting good wood, er, bone on the ball.

So we're talking about who should be in the baseball hall of fame on the Awful Forums. I chime in about Alan Trammell saying this:

"An educated Tiger fan could convince me of Alan Trammell so long as they did not try to knock George Bell in the process, like Rob Neyer did about five times in the Big Book of Baseball Lineups. .308-47-134 versus .348-28-105; the right guy won. Trammell still has a World Championship that Bell doesn't, as well as not seeing "Raul Mondesi" anywhere on his 'most similar players page' on Baseball Reference as consolation prizes."

For those people who don't know, George Bell was a Toronto Blue Jay. Though the Jays have had a few Cy Young winners, Bell was the only AL MVP.

The VERY NEXT POST is:

"^ That is debatable at best. Trammel batted 40 points higher, and his power numbers were lower because Tiger Stadium is a left handed hitter's park, whereas Trammel was a righty slap hitter. Trammell also batted 2nd behind Whitaker for the Tigers in 1987, where RBI are much less common. His numbers are comparable or better than almost every other short stop of his era and before. He was robbed out of the 1987 MVP and won the 84 WS MVP. "

Because you get banned for calling someone a retard on the Awful Forums, I gladly do it here. I was quite happy to see the guy further descend into madness the more he wrote, giving out the obligatory "robbed out of the 87 MVP" line. You can't argue with Detroit fans about that, they're out of their fucking minds. Who the hell brings up park effects on a 20-year old MVP (non)-debate?

Plus, I think if you want to have a serious debate about one guy getting the award over another you ought to at least spell his last name right.
