Was it 24 hours? I thought it was just a seven-day period. Oh well, let's stick to the 24 hours, makes for a better story.

Hell, let's make it 12 hours, and 3 chicks. And two of them were twin sisters.

As far as Lucy updates go, here's all I got:

Yesterday, comes up and chatty-chat-chats all over again like nothing ever happened. I was polite, but not effusive in my enthusiasm. Similarly went our AIM conversation later in the day which she initiated. I continue to be polite, but withdrawn.

I am done concerning myself with her. She knows where I am, she knows my number. If she gets a taste for Vitamin B, let her shop for it.

Shankini is the one I went on that one date with out in Boulder. We got along well, but I didn't think she was interested, and she didn't think I was interested. There's probably truth in both of those statements, but we still maintain contact over Yahoo IM. I mention her here not because she's a "candidate" but because she has done more to help me come out of my recent grotesque bout of depression than all of the rest of you combined. Granted, you were mostly attempting to do harm, but still, you get my point.

Anyway, I was at the lowest of the low, really finding it hard to get out of bed, and definitely finding it hard to think of a reason to keep breathing, and she said, what I needed to do was take a break from the "chase". Announce to the world that I was no longer (at least until I un-fucked myself) in the "dating scene". She advised me to cancel my match.com account. I did. She advised me to blow off any match.com contacts I'd already made. I did. She advised me to no longer pursue Lucy as a dating object, but to become friends with her, because I needed some sort of social support system, which I currently do not have. I instructed her that of course, that would be extremely difficult to do, as I've not fared well in the "being friends with chicks I'm crazy about" department. But I liked the overall tone of her message, which was: All this stress and misery was coming about due to my obsession with finding a broad. If I simply refused to worry about it, things would be much better. And bam, they were indeed.

So, many thanks to Shankini, for keeping me from downing the entire bottle of Tylenol PMs, and setting me at least just a little bit straighter.

Now, let's move on:

Ah, Lucy. Well, the latest is, I've pushed forward with the whole "friendship" thing, on Shankini's advice. First stop, the National Capital BBQ Battle this previous weekend. I drove us downtown, where we spent a couple hours milling around, dribbling BBQ sauce on ourselves. Then around 9:30 PM, we headed across the street to a bar, where we had an after-dinner something something. Then back to her new house, where we enjoyed nightcaps of Corona, and watched a bit of TV, until midnight came and she kicked me out.

Well, what can I say. I enjoyed my time with her. I enjoy her a great deal. Yes, she's exactly the same girl I keep falling for over and over and over and over again, but whaddya gonna do. It probably ain't gonna happen, but we do have a fun time, and I think I'm past the "worst of it", so, we'll just keep doing what we do. Support system, right?

Halley's existence was brought to my attention by my friend Chris (not my MORTAL ENEMY Chris, who posts here) who said that he knew this musician who was real nice, a little shy, and definitely on the market. So I showed up at her performance last week, introduced myself, chatted briefly, and purchased a CD. Since then we've kept in touch over email. There'll probably be a party shortly where both of us are invited. Seems like a nice girl. Very very shy, though, it's true, which could make our dates a little uncomfortable, with both of us nervously turning away and stammering every time we try to say something. Can play the hell out of a saxophone though, there's no denying that. We'll see.

NICKNAME: The Woman Who I Send My Timesheets To Every Week

This was fairly interesting. I'm walking down the hall today, and Chris stops me and says, "Hey, what do you think about Lisa?" I had to pause for a moment to figure out what the hell he was talking about. "Oh. Lisa! What do I think about her? Why do you ask?" Seems Aaron (her brother, and Chris' friend) had talked to her in some form or another about me, and she expressed at least a little bit of interest in getting to know me better, so through those channels, it got back to me. Now, my interaction with Lisa has consisted of two face-to-face meetings, and a few (terribly witty) email exchanges. I guess that's enough sometimes to catch PINBACK FEVER. However, the conduit by which I'm receiving this news has informed me that she's been told that if she's interested, SHE should make the move, because everyone knows what a sissy-ass loser I am. As she IS the person I email my timesheet to, and could possibly affect my career for better or worse, this seems a prudent way to proceed.

This concludes this update. The making-fun-of-me and telling-me-why-I'm-wrong-about-everything may now commence.
