Lance.
Give it up for Lance, after winning a record sixth Tour today in the most dominant form since he started picking these things off.
That has to piss off the competition. Last year, he won by just a minute, giving hope to the challengers. This year, wins by 6:38. Like, hello, thanks for coming, now SIT DOWN.
My man can RIDE some mufuckin' BICYCLES.

When you need my help because I'm ruining everything, don't look at me.

Re: Lance.
Yeah, he is like an evolutionary superman in the world of cycling. It's fucking amazing.pinback wrote:Give it up for Lance, after winning a record sixth Tour today in the most dominant form since he started picking these things off.

Come on Vit, Lance Armstrong has come back from battling testicular cancer to breaking personal and world records in a sport that is all about strength and stamina. No steroids, or performance enhancing drugs (as far as I know) - just lots of focus and hard work. There are lots of things that Ben says that are shallow but I don't think this is one of them.Vitriola wrote:Gee, Ben, it's such a COINCIDENCE that all your favorite athletes are NUMBER ONE (or were, or are among) in their CHOSEN FIELDS. Gotta love the front-runners, don't we?

Ben digs Tiger Woods. He likes Lance Armstrong. He follows the Los Angeles Lakers. He was actively rooting for the #1 seed Tampa Bay Lightning during the NHL Playoffs.Casual Observer wrote:Come on Vit, Lance Armstrong has come back from battling testicular cancer to breaking personal and world records in a sport that is all about strength and stamina. He likes front runners. He IS a front runner. Which is really surprising, you know, considering and all.
One of the teams I follow has won a championship in my lifetime (OK, the Flyers did in 75, but I was one year old). When the Blue Jays knocked the shit out of everyone in 1992 and 1993 it was INFINITELY more satisfying than it would have been if I had just followed them when it looked easy to do.
I don't know how people who bandwagon jump can sleep at night. Why bother? They know nothing, they've endured nothing, they are nothing... what a way to become a worthless person.
When the New Orleans Saints win a Super Bowl (and thanks to the salary cap in the NFL, they will one day) it's going to be one of the most exciting things I'll witness. Especially since I've watched all the games through all the 3-13 and 6-10 seasons and so forth.
Ben? I don't know why he bothers to follow sports. Maybe this Lance Armstrong thing would be cool if he were a big fan of him in his pre-cancer days.

Three weeks on a bike riding those kinds of miles and that kind of speed. The level of athleticism, the level of fine-tuning of the human body, the mental focus, courage, I tip my hat to Lance Armstrong and to the whole U.S. Postal team, the U.S. Postal team makes the United States proud.
