Monster Magnet - Monolithic Baby!

Post by Worm »

I finally picked up this album a month after it was released when I finally remembered about it. It's really good. I like almost anything that Monster Magnet does but this is really good. The songs cover a pretty wide range and are all damn good. I really like The Right Stuff and Too Bad most. The Right Stuff has this wierd feeling of arrogance to it I dig. Too Bad is great for Wyndorf's singing alone which. There are a few nice surprises and it isn't nearly as trippy as previous albums this makes it stronger I think. The redo of King of Mars is really great also. It's not so much metal as it is Monster Magnet, it's a good thing.
Good point Bobby!

Dopes To Infinity will always stand as one of the best hard rock/metal releases of the 90s, following up a pretty decent release in Superjudge. Haven't heard anything after Powertrip, though, so I'll definitely check this out. Their song 'Silver Future' from the Heavy Metal 2000 soundtrack was great, did they ever include that on their last album or others?

Silver Future was on God Says No. http://shopping.monstermagnet.net/categ ... ?catID=200 You could pick it up from their shop if you want. Though you'd probably be better off getting Spine of God from there which is a great album. You might be able to find both cheaper just at a music store though you might have to have them order it. There are a few for a nickle on Ebay too.

God Says No is an album I really do like it just wasn't their best. The UK version had "I want more" as a bonus track which was really good and the Japanese version (the one I bought) has Leaping Lizards which is alright.
Good point Bobby!
