He was created to "die" in the pages of the X-Men comic book. The creators wanted to show that, hey, battling evil mutants and such isn't safe. So this beautiful character died ripping a fighter jet apart, to get at a bad guy.

It's hard to keep up with certain characters if you are into that sort of thing. I will say this, I have a goal of writing for a comic book publisher. Something. Anything. I get one life, I'd like to do it. After 45 years, they brought Thunderbird back and it is one of the worst comics I've ever read in my life. I have confidence that I can do this now. As far as I can tell, the credentials for the writer is that she was a WWE wrestler. They ditch the costume. The art is really bad. They have Thunderbird going down to a police station to act in domestic terrorism within a few pages.
Here's a link to a pirate site where they apparently just scan and put all comic books on.
Reading what I can about how to break into the comic book writing industry, people say, hey, either go work for indie comic book publishers or have such a "brand" that you bring your audience with you. I made a comic book themed text adventure 25 years ago. I could certainly release "version 2.0" of it and fix some things with it after Cyberganked. If Cyberganked is a hit, that would help too. It's one of the last goals that seem unbelievable to me, but I think I can do it.
