AI generated music

Post by Mama Blue »

So have you guys tried any of those AI generated music apps?

They all go somewhat the same.

You have a few inputs: mood, genre, speed

And it poops 💩 you out a tune 🎶

Have seen nothing quality so far.

Most notably annoying thing so far
Is that the genres are typically electronic based music heavy.

Anyway, go find one, try it out, report back

This one sucked, avoid it:

I did use one once. The generated band name was "The CFL on CBS." I kind of liked them. But I never saved their album and now it's gone. Forever. Like tears

It's just that there were 10 unread messages when I got home from work and 80% of them were fron non human sources. I used to look forward to content here, now it's starting to become a slog

Yeah. Paul look man, you posted three music lyrics to that one thread. Not a set of lyrics, which would be more than enough. But three.

I don't know what we're gonna do, but you're completely out of control and nobody can compete with the sheer volume of messages you are creating. Maybe we have to go back to the 8 line limit. It's ridiculous.

Understood.

I was just jumping on tge band2agon and trying to get ppl into my thread.

I thought that an artificial intelligence creating a decent song could be awesome but we shall see.

There is another issue. If you have the AI program generate some music, the company putting the generator out says they own that. But they don't. The copyright office has stated, that a work must be created by a person to be copyrightable. I suspect this is going to create some interesting lawsuits if they offer a system to create music, but try to claim ownership of the creation of an AI system. You have to register the copyright to sue, would they plan to file a $60 copyright registration for thousands of generated works?

The stuff is brand new now. Wait a few years. I think either we didn't have deepfakes in 2010 or the capavility was rudimentary. Now look "what hath god wrought." We now know, Mr. Samuel Morse, we know.

Jonsey, I wonder if you've seen the ads for, taken a look at, and/or think of, Bass Dragon: https://unison.audio/bass-dragon/ . For 200 bucks they provide a music creation system, song designer, and a huge number of styles and effects. Since they offer a 60 day trial, it seems like it is the sort of tool that anyone interested in creating music would have if they had not just a serious interest, but any interest. Plus, they explicitly state you own any music you create with it, no further royalties required.

I unfollowed/unfriended/blocked a Twitch acquaintance because every day he started posting everywhere about the "latest album he released" on every platform that exists. He was "releasing albums" about 3-4 times a week, and they were all just AI tracks he was generating off one of those dumb goddamn websites.

Thanks! I have a need for some Electronica with no vocals for the game I'm making. I wouldn't want it ALL to be AI generated, but one song among 80? Of course!

Appreciate you, bud.

Why can't we, as humans, make the music ourselves? I do not believe all this machinery making modern music can still be open hearted.

I am now the manager of a new AI band featuring four AI musicians. The Ai-yi-yi's will be playing the Texas county state fair next weekend. I've generated an entire crowd of AI fans to attend the show. None of this is cheap so if you would like to sponsor the event, hmu for my PayPal. Perks include having a virtual banner on display at the event, a commercial jingle that will be generated by ChatGPT, and a gentleman's agreement that you will never have to hear the music.

Well, it not all bad. I'm sure AI-generated virtual instruments and synths will be great. Imagine if you can just ask the AI to generate some samples you can use in a MOD tracker, for example.
