Anyone know where I might get a Dreamcast rom of Shenmue?

Hi Hugella,

Do you have a broadband connection? If so, the Shenmue is posted to one of the Dreamcast binary Usenet groups about once a week or so it seems. Additionally, if you have broadband you can connect up to a Direct Connect hub and start downloading the rar files for it.

I like Broadband. Hee hee hee.

If you do not have broadband or require more specifics, let me know. Additionally, do you need the NTSC or PAL version of it? And have you any interest in Shenmue II for the DC? I don't have it, but I know it's out there and not all that rare.

Yes, I have broadband. I had no idea Shenmue II ever came out for DC but of course would love to have it as well.

As far as the Direct Connect, I have no idea how to accomplish this; have no idea what it is, but would be more than happy to learn. :)

Er, above post from me.

By the way, how exactly does this ROM stuff work? Do I just burn a CD and pop in the ole DC, or is something more required?

I think there is a Dreamcast boot disc. Some googling would help out.

There's no copy protection in the DC hardware, so you just burn and play. If I was the kind of guy who grabbed stuff off Usenet, I would recommend getting a subscription to Ultrafeed, from Ultrafeed.com. It literally takes only moments to setup and get your account ready, and I think they have trial memberships.

www.nfonews.com is also a place that lists what has been uploaded to the Dreamcast groups, but be careful if you go there, as there is a risque (though not explicit) banner ad in rotation over there. It's not worksafe, I guess, but only barely.
