That also single-handedly ruined free agency for everyone else in the NHL.

"Hey, I wonder if the Flyers will make Kariya an off- er."

"Then again, there is always Selann- er."

Hey, good for the Avs, though. If you have goaltending questions you might as well overstock on the offensive side. Hopefully this encourages Forsberg to stick around another year.

It's unfortunate that your biggest rival will have Cujo and Hasek next year. It's unlikely that they will deal Cujo to you, I'd imagine.

Hey, the Flyers got... uh, Hackett, at least!

I'm oddly not that concerned about the Red Wings... yet. I'm still enjoying the Kariya/Selanne afterglow. The Wings are gonna be a lot slower this year, (presumably) losing Fedorov, and with Yzerman and Chelios officially ancient. But I fear Hasek a lot more than Joseph (who I'd guess will end up with the Rangers).

My hope remains that the Avs get Burke from free agency or Khabibulin through trade-- I'd imagine Tanguay is up for grabs now.

Of course, a few years ago, I thought Theo Fleury had guaranteed Colorado a Stanley Cup. Ha ha ha!

I think I'd prefer former Chiefs LB Dino Hackett.
Joseph (who I'd guess will end up with the Rangers).
This sort of thing is why I hate the Rangers. This sort of thing is why I hate all LA and NY teams in leagues with no cap. They'll make their share of mistakes... hell, they'll make MORE than their share of mistakes... but when there's no upper limit on what you can spend it doesn't matter. Eventually they'll keep the guys that work out and ditch the ones that don't no matter the cost. It would be real nice if a cap were implemented before the Rangers got good.

I really don't get their moves. Yeah, Cechmanek had to go after alienating all his teammates again... but he's still a much better goalie than Hackett.

Two years ago, they had Cechmanek and Boucher; now it's Hackett and Esche. That's a few steps back. Hackett's good, but he's in that vast middle ground of goalies, with Dunham, Osgood, Turek, Dafoe, etc... guys that won't win cups for you.

Well, after the (presumed) lockout, a cap is more or less expected. I hate the Rangers too-- there's not a team in sports whose failings give me more delight.
