There are a ton of 8-bit and retro dub remixes on the tube.

How can a thread on "sick drops" not mention Stevie Johnson or Greg Little?

I concur with TDarcos. But everything I've listened to posted by ICJ so far are very pleasing on the ears. If I had to listen to dubstep I would get my playlist from him.

I can't believe you've listened to these songs AND still not yet been able to discern what constitutes a "sick drop", but on the other hand, I can totally believe that.
You think I actually listen to that crap? :)

Well, history will tell the full story later.

Here is a song that I have been listening to recently. Does it even have a drop?? I do know that it is licensed Creative Commons, commercial use OK, so y'all gonna be hearing a lot of it in two years, yo.

(This is a 16 year old kid from Scandinavia. He is a genius.)

This is the #5 result for "wikipedia sick drops" (without he quotes) right now. Can we do better?

Listen to this song, at around the 0:40 mark. Do you hear how it goes from what I'd describe as "elevator-electronica" into a fury of bass scratches and wub wub wubs and all that other noise?

That constitutes a "sick drop". It "drops" into a world of bass, drums, computerized wubs and general rhythmic hysteria. This drop, in particular, I would characterize as "sick", which is how the kids say "sweet" or "groovy" or "awesome" or whatever other word you understand to mean the same thing.

Here's one of the sickest drops, coming from one of the most unexpected places!

Again, what is a sick drop?

by RealNC » Sat Oct 06, 2012 9:46 am

If it weren't for the eurotrash melody and vocals, it would have been quite sick, yes. But when they choose to remix something that's crap to begin with, the only thing that can come out is... crap.

I think these dudes did much better on that front:

Perhaps give us back post editing instead?
That will never happen! Here is a drop! Is it sick??
