You've probably already heard it, but just in case: be sure you hear Anti-Hu. Very nice song (not especially long, just a good song).

The cd's can be purchased somewhere online already, even though it's not yet June whatever. I'd gladly provide a handy link, but I'm very boozed up at the moment. My apologies, but hey, at least this response didn't take two months.

What do I know?

Well, it's the Offcell EP. It contains five songs:

Offcell
B
Microtonic Wave
Grey Machine
Victorious D

I've heard both B and Victorious D in concert over the years, and really only care for B. Offcell, Microtonic Wave and Grey Machine are all killer songs.

And if you thought their song June was long, Grey Machine clocks in at just over eleven minutes. Geez!

They're also supposed to have a full album release later this summer, although this album was slated for late last year, but I'll be patient.

Yeah, two tours ago, I saw 'em in Dallas and Zach broke a bass string and I think brought the show to a premature end. By that I mean, he seemed pissed/pissy, and they didn't do any encores or anything. It was just rather abrupt. But also, hardly anyone there seemed like they knew who Pinback was--they weren't very attentive to the music. It was a small crowd, in a coffehouse. Maybe Pinback's had some bad experiences in the South?

Yes, I enjoy both of them, but I much prefer Pinback over all of Rob Crow's other musical projects.

Hmm, Heavy Vegetable or Optigonally Yours...I asked my signifigant other about them and she filled me in as to who they are...haven't heard anything by either one 'cause we haven't been able to download anything by them...are they good?

Did you know Pinback's going on tour starting March 12? I can send you the info if you want it. I'm subscribed to their yahoo list...hmm, on second glance, looks like they're not going to Georgia (GA is Georgia, right)...not going to GA, at any rate.

Just finished a tape for a colleague. Labeled "Rainer Maria - Pinback/related bands". It is Rainer Maria's A Better Version of Me, minus one song that I don't like, plus Pinback and Pinback-related bands.

The whole Rainer Maria album is good (except for that one song), but some highlights are "Save My Skin", "Ceremony", "Atropine", and "The Contents of Lincoln's Pockets".

Pinback - Messenger
Pinback - Anti-Hu
Three Mile Pilot - On a Ship to Bangladesh
Thingy - Already Ivy
Thingy - Cut

Pinback is primarily two main dudes, and Three Mile Pilot is one dude's other band, and Thingy is the other dude's other band.

Wow -- thanks to both of you for all the suggestions. A sampling of those I haven't heard is being downloaded now.

Bruce -- you've mentioned Eaglesmith before and I'm just now getting along to downloading it. "Little Buffalo" is excellent.

I'll probably put Earle's "Johnny Come Lately" on -- while it's not a drinking song, it is great to sing along to, even when you're completely lacking in talent.

Two more full albums I thought of late last night -- Billy Joe Shaver's "Old Five and Dimers Like Me" and Waylon Jennings' (Shaver-written) "Honky Tonk Heroes". I've broken furniture listening to "Honky Tonk Heroes" in the past.
