The Lions, who have a shot to go 8-8 this year, are going to fire offensive co-ordinator Mike Martz. Mike Martz is at least partly responsible for the team's turnaround, making a 4,000 yard passer out of journeyman Jon Kitna.

The defensive co-ordinator, who is apparently the son in law of Matt Millen*, took the defense from 29th to 32nd. He will continue to keep his job.

The Lions make you happy to be the fan of any other professional sports team.

*I say apparently, because I was reading the comments of this article on ESPN.com. The dumbest collection of human beings in the world create these comments, so I'm not going to take anything I read at face value.

Artose Pinner has been signed by the New Orleans Saints.

I DEMAND that Sports Pinner support the New Orleans Saints as his "Second Favorite Team" for as long as Artose Pinner remains with the team.

Which will probably be until two minutes after the Saints lose to the Bears. BUT STILL.

by Sports Pinner » Mon Dec 24, 2007 10:41 am

Now Jonsey and I are ENEMIES because he wants my guys to LOSE. Which is ironic, since yesterday he was likely screaming at the TV about how much he loved my guys since they had to win for his guys to have a chance.

Live by the Brees, die by the Brees. My fantasy title hopes are dwindling by the second.

Also, sort of apropos of nothing (except that I'm drunk), Bill Simmons is a giant cunt.

NFC South, baby!

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Tue Dec 18, 2007 6:29 pm

Ah... well...

I myself have just learned that Sean Taylor, the deceased safety for the Washington Redskins, has been named to the NFC Pro Bowl.

Therefore, many of my comments in the last page would accidentally seem to be crude and crass.

I would like to apologize to the members of Sean Taylor's family and Washington Redskins fans everywhere.

that is so fuckin sick... i am outa here.

Additionally, did the Redskins get any guys into the Pro Bowl? I would imagine that those that went would provide an extra push against the Cowboys in the last week, if not close the coffin on the Cowboys getting home field advantage throughout.

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Tue Dec 18, 2007 5:37 pm

Not sure I'm following. Can you dumb it down for ole Ice Creem Jones?

Now, seriously - are there any major contributors that are no longer with the team, since that first game against Dallas? Any backups pressed into starting duty? Honestly, if you guys went toe to toe with them the first time, aside from that one groin shot of an ending, your playoff hopes are very much alive!

by VialisCiagra » Tue Dec 18, 2007 5:20 pm

You just couldnt leave it alone huh.. sick

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Tue Dec 18, 2007 4:19 pm

And have you had any major personnel losses since then?

by Sports Pinner » Tue Dec 18, 2007 3:03 pm

Well, they virtually beat the starters the first time.

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Tue Dec 18, 2007 2:58 pm

The Vikes ain't winning 7 to close out the season. Not with that coach.

And you have the Cowboys in week 17? They could be resting their starters. Do you think the Redskins can beat the Cowboys' backups?

by Sports Pinner » Tue Dec 18, 2007 2:48 pm

I see now that the Skins last two games are against the Vikings and the Cowboys.

This effectively eliminates the Skins from contention.

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Tue Dec 18, 2007 2:35 pm

Adrian Peterson - the one for the Vikings, not the one for the Bears (whom I think should call himself "Dre Peterson," because, Jesus Christ) isn't going to let the Vikings miss the playoffs. No more than Reggie Bush was going to allow it last year.

We're doomed, Sports Pinner.

I've HEARD that if the Vikes lose one more game and everyone else (Saints, Skins, Panthers) win out, the Saints are in because of their conference record. Don't quote me, though.

The Saints finish up their regular season schedule with the same two teams they played in the playoffs last year, in order (Eagles and Bears). I hate Eagle fans, as a general rule.

by Sports Pinner » Tue Dec 18, 2007 2:15 pm

Now watch and Jonsey and I BOND TOGETHER in hoping that our teams win and the Vikings LOSE next week!

Then if that happens we will BOND, continuing to hope for a Vikings loss, but then also become ENEMIES, as we hope for the others' team's loss and our team's win.

Of course, I don't know all the tiebreakers, so it might be far less complicated than I'm making it out.

by AArdvark » Mon Dec 17, 2007 7:07 pm

Why does every sports announcer use the term 'Old School Football' when it snows during a game? Bills vs Browns was old school football. I'll just keep thinking that as I see them use the Motorola helmet radios and leaf blowers on the field.

Watch how Jonsey and I now BOND TOGETHER to root for the CHICAGO BEARS tonight, to give his disgusting Saints, and my even-more-pathetic Redskins a chance to GET INTO THE PLAYOFFS and get stomped immediately!

(Of course I am really rooting for the Patriots now because I am a front-running phony, but this will have to do.)

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Sun Dec 16, 2007 7:53 pm

They will totally use that one. When Hakim Dropped The Ball, yeah, you never saw the graphic that said, "The Saints Have Never Won a Playoff Game"... it switched to how they've won one.

Sportswriters, no offense to anyone out there, are pretty fucking lazy sometimes.

And congrats on your boys winning the division!
