I've been thinking about moving out of the state, if for no other reason than because the music scene will be better and I'll find less lame bandmates, but what I have here, while far from optimal, is stable, and i'm afraid of rocking that particular boat.

Oh yeah!

Did somebody say milk that cow?

Well I guess that is my Q.

You can learn a lot from interactive fiction.

I love it when people use the word milk in sentences.

We need more milk in this forum.

I'm thinking transfer here. The act of leaving the 49th state and going to school somewhere in the lower 48. Someplace where the teachers actually know more than the students. ( I dare you to refute this) Someplace where the weather is more temperate and the natives play bingo instead of eating blubber. This will not only improve your willingness to finish college but will enlarge your circle of friends, always a plus.

You, in fact, answered none of them. But you all made very good points.

I hope we answered all of Lysander's questions. I have a real soft spot for that little scamp, and I want to see him be enormously successful (so I can borrow money from him, partially, but mostly because I like him).

Quit college all you want if you aren't paying for it, it's quitting with 20,000 in loans that will fuck you. Milk that cow, take the free school then get a shit job as tech support somewhere, if they are hiring people in India I'm sure they will have no problems taking the blind (provided you are in the right "caste").
Then couple your shit starter job with your college to get a real job. It couldn't be any simpler then that, tooling around the internet and computers your whole life is the real education, that's what you will use.... the rest of the stuff advances you quicker and gets you in the door easier. AND if you hate your job you are not obligated to stay because you have no education thus no prayer of lucking into something better.

Ah.

Well, then, yeah. Might wanna be cool, stay in school.

With Lysander it's the fat bling. Don't get me wrong, I am with you on the whole money / happiness thing, but Lysander wants as much filthy, sickening, stinking lucre as he can possibly compile before he meets his maker.

Depends on what you call a "decent job". Depends on if money is your goal or happiness.

Depends on a lot of things.

What he said is absolutely, 100% true.

Thank you.

The implied learning? The direction of learning?
I'll answer this: because it is a prerequisite for almost any decent job you want to get. It doesn't matter that college doesn't teach anything remotely useful in the real world. When you are competing with people who have degrees then guess who loses out in the first cut? Often, your resume will make it into File 13 right off the bat.

I like how even the fucking google ads are getting in on the guilt-trip Lysander game now.

Lysander wrote:Basically. This is totally off-topic now, but whatever--right now I get room and board paid by myself and tuition paid by the state. This may well change when I move to a different one. I honestly don't know, and that's rather frightening. That's all the "aid" I get, though.
There are other aids available to you if you quit school, mainly all the Kool-Aid you want to drink when you are slinging two dollar Griddle cakes to rum-slurping hobos like some sort of Tales From the Darkside version of "Tapper" and all the band-aids you'd ever want when I use your jaw and collarbone as brass-knuckle sponges for even considering this. Those are the big two.

Lysander wrote:This is a problem. The potential for scams on the internet is extremely high, and when you're actually looking to spend your money online it gets even higher.
The scam I am currently working on involves me placing my balls on the applicants' chin under the guise of it being a trust game that I'll demonstrate through punches. Only at the last second I move my balls and just start pummelling their chins. The potential for my balls to get injured is very low, but the potential for me posting about it on the Internet is very high. Like you said, it also involves me getting cash from would-be applicants and then emptying my balls upon it.

You learn to avoid this, I say cringingly, at any junior-level arts or science class, which is why it's critical that you stop going to your University and use baby oil while walking with a forward chin.
