Certifications, training programs, getting started in IT

I've been thinking about moving out of the state, if for no other reason than because the music scene will be better and I'll find less lame bandmates, but what I have here, while far from optimal, is stable, and i'm afraid of rocking that particular boat.

I'm thinking transfer here. The act of leaving the 49th state and going to school somewhere in the lower 48. Someplace where the teachers actually know more than the students. ( I dare you to refute this) Someplace where the weather is more temperate and the natives play bingo instead of eating blubber. This will not only improve your willingness to finish college but will enlarge your circle of friends, always a plus.

I hope we answered all of Lysander's questions. I have a real soft spot for that little scamp, and I want to see him be enormously successful (so I can borrow money from him, partially, but mostly because I like him).

Quit college all you want if you aren't paying for it, it's quitting with 20,000 in loans that will fuck you. Milk that cow, take the free school then get a shit job as tech support somewhere, if they are hiring people in India I'm sure they will have no problems taking the blind (provided you are in the right "caste").
Then couple your shit starter job with your college to get a real job. It couldn't be any simpler then that, tooling around the internet and computers your whole life is the real education, that's what you will use.... the rest of the stuff advances you quicker and gets you in the door easier. AND if you hate your job you are not obligated to stay because you have no education thus no prayer of lucking into something better.

I'll answer this: because it is a prerequisite for almost any decent job you want to get. It doesn't matter that college doesn't teach anything remotely useful in the real world. When you are competing with people who have degrees then guess who loses out in the first cut? Often, your resume will make it into File 13 right off the bat.
