The worst part is what a poor state the game is in. Basically the classes are nerfed, combined, and have had all their fuctionality stuffed into unlocks. It generally seems that in the long run there may be more depth but when you see that some of the upgrades are a normal sniper scope, basic frag grenades (FRG-1 in the future), AT mines, or a scope stabilizer it's pretty easy to realize what happened:
They decided on the natural combination of a few classes, Spec ops and the Sniper could easily be merged. Then they realized if a guy could have claymores and detpacks people would bitch. So they made them unlocks. Then they realized if a guy got those unlocks and could snipe and use det packs people would bitch. So they made the scope 2x and put a simple up down drift on it, and put the things to disable those in unlocks. This seems to be the trend for all characters. If the assault/medic started with paddles people might actually USE them, however, if you need to unlock paddles ... well who the fuck would unlock the paddles?
So really you're picking between the diversity of your old classes from the previous BF2 games, except you have a curve of time you need to invest online earning the ranks (why don't they just fucking charge for them?) that is going to head straight up the more of the old classes from BF you want to restore functionality to. Naturally, you'll blow your unlock points on shit like phasers, inviso-fields, personal shield systems, robot helpers, and Vulcan ears. Then you'll get your ass kicked on the clan server where everyone agreed to pick the paddles, heavy assault rifle, and frag grenades.
Beyond all this is to deny the fucking revenue for box sales, it's just not enough. I'm perfectly okay with a game spying on me even. Just not a shitty game.
