Joe vs. Pac-Man

Post by Flack »

This week Pixels, the new Adam Sandler "comedy" (yes, in air quotes), was released in theaters.

Also this week, Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser was released on Crackle, the free online movie streaming site.

Currently, both movies have a 0% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Granted Pixels only has 12 reviews and Joe Dirt 2 is sitting at 6, but neither movie has a single positive review.

It's a race! Which movie will be able to pull in the first positive mainstream review? Any bets?

I was hoping Pixels was going to be good. It could have been good! Pixels should have been a great movie. Sorry to see it's terrible.

I'm okay with Joe Dirt 2 being terrible.

Here's the most positive review I've seen so far for Pixels.

It would have been nice if Adam Sandler redeemed himself because Peter Dinklage refused to be in an insipid movie. I haven't seen it, likely won't and that's because it's been since he was Barry Egan than he's done anything worthwhile with his life.

I thought he was great in Funny People. As long as he has absolutely nothing to do with the writing, production, direction, or anything else with the movie, he has the capacity to not ruin everything.

I remember at one point some people at Caltrops challenged you on your ability to get to the heart of the matter on movies. I think the Matrix was one of them. You had stated that Keanu Reeves was the world's worst actor, but even he couldn't submarine the original Matrix.

Is Sandler -- should Sandler be considered one of the world's worst actors?

Adam Sandler is good, but only in a very, very narrow range. Like bitters are in the bartending world.

No. He doesn't ruin good material, he just rarely has it, since it's usually his own.

Keanu can ruin good material. He never has any either, but as is the case with the Matrix, HE was not the reason anyone remembers it, except when they are making fun of his deadpan/dead-brained performance.

I imagine we'll see him on True Detective Season 3.
