Has anyone else gone here and downloaded - or tried to download - the demo for The Stanley Parable, downloaded 110 megabytes, only to have it disappear and discover the actual demo as downloaded on Steam is 816 megabytes?

I liked the demo. It works for its intended purpose. It convinced me, I'm buying the game. It's hilarious and reminds me of the humor of Wheatley in Portal 2.

Nobody will say what it is about, but I don't care if it's spoiled for me.

What is it about?

The best "review" I've seen so far is by this guy:

There's no spoilers in it.

Yeah, just like Mistletoe and other holly which returns for Christmas, the fat fuck has returned. I still say we're better off without Ironside stinking up the place.

Princess Leia: Governor Tarkin, I should have expected to find you holding Vader's leash. I recognized your foul stench when I was brought on board.

I recognized TBarfos' foul stench as soon as they let him back in here. Just like I said when I heard 7-11s would be selling donuts, which would attract various vermin, like cops, "there goes the neigborhood."

Also, holly berries "...contain Theobromine, a compound similar to caffeine. [...] larger amounts can cause dizziness, stomach pain, nausea, diarrhoea, elevated pulse rate, and low blood pressure, as well as drowsiness."

He's back!

By the way, it's the theobromine in chocolate that makes it poisonous for dogs.

Kid: I didn't know the USA belonged to Richard Stans. Who's Richard Stans?
Mother: What do you mean?
Kid: We learned the Pledge of Allegiance in school today. "And to the republic, for Richard Stans."

You're never, ever going to be funny.

Ah.... Was anyone going to rail against the Stanley Parable for being the exact opposite of a game?

Only one man has the right to determine what is a game and what is not a game.

That man is Richard Stans.

Or Harold.

I got The Stanley Parable. EHHHHHHhhHhhhhhh.

I mean. It's clever. It does what it does well. I had to look up how to get a few of the better endings. I imagine it strikes a chord with game/level developers, much like our Sysop here, who do nothing but try to tell a meaningful story in a medium where the audience often INTENTIONALLY TRIES to avoid receiving the intended story in the right way.

Again, it does that. It does that extremely well. It has no flaws, as such. It is a complete success.

And yet, I'd rather just be told what it was about. I did not find it "hilarious", like our Grand Porked (pronounced "pork-ed") Leader here. The only similarity with Portal 2 is that the voiceover has a British accent. After a while I stopped trying to find the endings and just looked up how to do them.

It outstays its welcome quickly, I guess is how I'd put it. Once the thought "okay, we get it" pops into your head, continuing on is a matter of how bored you are.

I enjoyed Thirty Flights of Loving more, a "game" which feels like the drug-addled Satanic cousin of this.
