I refuse to watch the Long Island Medium. I think those people are vultures that pray on vulnerable people. I refuse to watch the Sister Wives program. I just don't believe that polygamy should be the basis of a television show and the plot of every one I've seen is the same (women with low self-esteem sharing one husband and bickering). I refuse to watch that Honey Boo Boo train wreck because ... well, yeah. When I say "refuse" I mean, I'll leave the room if they're on. What on television today do you refuse to watch?

I refuse to watch everything. With the exception of CougarTown which I will DVR. Everything else is muted or better yet, off, or I leave the room. Getting hard to tell the commercials from the programs sometimes.

Long Island Medium is a show about a psychic? Just keep in mind that most of those people deserve to have money stolen from them.
Also, since I have watched every "Dexter" episode, I lose the right to look down my nose at shows. None of them can be as preposterous as the shit I am subjecting myself to with that one.

Shows like that Honey Boo Boo make me fear for the future intelligence of this country. And I thought Hee-Haw was bad. Lowest common denominator indeed.

Anyone who knows anything about cold readings knows how terrible this lady is at them. Last night she was on a boat bothering passengers. In a room she says, "who here had a brother pass?" A lady points to her husband. "I see your brother, he's standing here." "It was my brother-in-law." "Ah yes, and he died suddenly." (Silence) "...suddenly, at the end, even though he was sick and it took a while. This was recent, right?" "Well, three or four years ago." "Ah yes, just recently. And you didn't say goodbye to him, right?" "Well I was there when he died." I'm not sure if it's more offense that she's a fake psychic, or that she's a particularly bad one.

Agreed -- and this is coming from a guy who, as a kid, thought Hee-Haw was a local variety show.

What do they call a midget psychic who is on the run from the police?
A small medium at large.

Ben, you've been watching Family Guy too much. I prefer Ronny Milsap, myself:

It reminds me of another song where a guy goes out walking in the rain to find his girlfriend who vanished, Elvis Presley's "Kentucky Rain."
In fact, it might be an interesting trivia question. Name three songs about a guy out walking in the rain because his girlfriend up and left him without telling him or giving a reason. Ronny Milsap, "Smoky Mountain Rain"; Elvis Presley, "Kentucky Rain"; Dion, "Runaway."
Were they all guys who beat their woman or is it something else?

Wrong.
You know, Ben, you might actually be a worse asshole than I am, and that really takes practice and training.

Instead of an apology, can you please post an alternate, better psychic joke?

There are multiple reality shows on television now that supposedly show criminal activities taking place. Take Moonshiners. Moonshiners has four camera crews. Three of them follow groups of moonshiners around the countryside as they make illegal moonshine. The fourth crew follows the sheriff around as he tries to find and bust these people. Why doesn't the sheriff just watch the dailies (or last week's episode) to figure out where these guys are operating from?
There are a couple of tow truck/repossession shows on right now that are so laughably fake ... I mean, they look fake on TV and people have shown how fake they are. People are always firing guns on these shows. Why aren't they all in jail? Because it's fake.
Don't get me started in this stupid ass Amish Mafia show.

I have similar concerns about "Intervention", which is often a wonderful show, no lie, but I mean, half of them are about meth addicts, so why don't the cops just watch the show and then arrest everyone that was on it?

An arrest must be for a crime committed in the presence of the party arresting the person (for a citizen's arrest or for a law enforcement officer arrest for a misdemeanor or a traffic citation in lieu of arrest) or where the arresting officer knows or has reason to know the party committed a crime (for a felony). Unless the video shows the person using it's not evidence of a crime being committed.
My brother quotes a scene from a movie where a cop is talking to a junkie he doesn't like. "Look, over there, across the street a guy's selling crack. Why don't you go over and make a buy so I can bust your ass!"

If you had seen the show you would know that almost every episode contains video of people using drugs.

Unfortunately none of TDR's new year's resolutions was "have any idea what the fuck I'm talking about before posting about it."

That hasn't stopped you from posting either, so what's the point?
