How do I vote for Transformers?

1986 version? I watched that with my girlfriend's nephew this weekend. We both enjoyed it very much.

I should specify:

1. When referring to Blade Runner, I am referring at least to the Director's Cut, and preferably the Final Cut or whatever that one from a couple years ago was called. NON-VOICEOVER-VERSION, at any rate.

2. When referring to Aliens, I am referring to the original theatrical release, NOT the "Special Edition", which added in a bunch of scenes ALL of which made the original movie better by not having been included. I've never seen a "Special Edition" which so damaged the original film. Wait, yes I have: Apocalypse Now: Redux. But we're not talking about that right now.

Aliens kicks ass with action all the way through and awesome drama from characters like the scared freaked out guy Image
and the cute but sassy little girl Image saying things like "casey doesn't have nightmares, she's just a piece of plastic".

I've never seen this Alien version without lots of slow scenes, please to be referring me to a link.

Aliens starts out with a fucking DREAM SEQUENCE.

A fucking DREAM SEQUENCE.

A FUCKING DREAM SEQUENCE.

That -- get this the fuck out of this thread. NOW!

I can't believe - I am smiling with rage right now. Literally smiling. Literally smiling, but with literal rage.

Also, are we to assume that Ripley was at light speed for 57 years, and that's why she didn't age? Are we to assume that? Because the movie sure as fuck doesn't mention it.

No, it's well known that people don't age in cryogenics. For reference, see classics like Heinlen's book Door to Summer, Star Trek's Kahn, and one of my favorites: Demolition Man. The dream sequence was a cool surprise, the first time I saw Aliens.

Cryogenics and stasis in general, is a fairly well used science fiction device. It doesn't need to be directly explained: did you give a directly referenced, paragraph of explanation to explain every nuance, in-joke, or subtle slap at a genre device, present in your games?

Dream sequences are lazy, terrible machinations that are meant for cornshuck, lazy idiots who clap like circus seals at whatever is presented to them, like the fat non-humans that they are. I'm glad that you otherwise dislike the movie as much as I do, CO.

It's fine that they didn't explain it in Aliens, in fact, it's better that way. It's better that they went from one of the most amazingly realistic sci-fi ventures ever into this pap smear sloppy nonsense.

It is also good that you hate this movie as much as I did. (I couldn't finish it tonight, and I am amazed I ever finished it.)

Pinback, you are wrong to have voted for that movie in this poll. The rest of us are against you.

WELL WAIT! Dream sequences are OK if you tell the audience that your character is clearly dreaming. It's dumb dog food if you think you are "tricking" the audience by not telling them.

Flying cars (Blade Runner) or giant robot (Aliens).

Since Transformers wasn't an option, I thought I'd go for the most accurate depiction of the future I'd want to live in, and I wouldn't want to live in a future without flying cars.

I didn't vote for it in this poll. So far today your GETTING THINGS WRONG level is at: TDR.

Are we still talking about Transformers?

Mostly, yes, but we agreed to table that discussion for now.

Ben tells me that I watched the "special edition" of Aliens, which he agrees is horrible. So that's another person agreeing with me.

Everyone has agreed with me in this thread!
