Consider that because of terrorist attacks upon airliners and general violence as a result, that air travel becomes very difficult and the average Joe traveling by air would be subjected to extremely intimate examinations by air security operations.
No, I'm not talking about things now, I'm talking about the plot of a 1986 made-for-tv movie co-written by Bob Woodward (yes, the co-discoverer of the Watergate scandal) called Under Siege http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092132/ which has no relationship to the film by Deputy Sheriff Steven Segal.
As I remember, terrorists blew up a couple of airliners in flight (obviously killing the passengers), so basically in response the government goes excessively ham-handed in response. Just amazing that someone could predict how things would become, 14 years before 9/11.
