During the movie they are running right now (Batman Begins with Christian Bale and the usual suspects), AMC is running a countdown clock for Breaking Bad as a network bug in the upper right corner of the screen, counting down from 3:00:00 to 2:45:31 to 0:27:11, etc.

Note that the countdown clock only appears during the movie, it doesn't show during the commercial breaks.

This is the thread in which we all admit that tonight's episode of Breaking Bad is the greatest episode of anything that has ever existed in the history of everything.

No. I must say more.

I immediately pronounced after this episode was over that that was the greatest episode of any show ever. Kathy was quick to remind me that I said the same thing at the Battlestar Galactica finale, which a lot of people hated.

I still think that that single episode was the greatest thing I've ever seen on TV, but I understand (though disagree with) those that disliked it.

So this comes in second, but there is no WAY anyone could possibly dislike this. This was epic and wonderful and anyone who doesn't agree that it was fantastic sucks.

Breaking Bad is the greatest show that will ever exist on television. I am convinced of this, and tonight's finale pretty much solidified it.

This is genius.

(Also if you didn't like the BSG finale, ROBB, you are a loser. But whatever.)

I am happy that Season 4 ended the way it did, so that if things go pear-shaped during the production of Season 5, at least we got a reasonably satisfying final episode.

I think that it is possible for someone to dislike the episode based on the nightmare fuel of Gus walking out of the room, and basically looking like a skinned corpse covered in charred flesh, which is what he was, just before he dies. It wasn't pretty and some might have thought it was gratuitously gruesome.

Yeah I would be interested. I didn't pick it up until about Season 3, I think, or maybe season 2. I watched every episode, plus I have cable, one thing Comcast provides is "on demand," in which for from 3 weeks to a month after a show airs you can catch up on the previous episodes. And surprisingly enough they don't charge for it.

I was at the Federal Computer Show FOSE that runs every summer in Washington, DC. I happened to speak to a guy who mentioned they sold a lot of SSD memory to a number of cable companies for use in their Pay Per View and On Demand type services. The videos can be served from a device with no moving parts, and it's very fast, a lot faster than delivery from a hard drive. Plus since it has no moving parts it can't wear out no matter how much it's used. (Not quite true, I think flash memory like this degrades after about a few million reads.)
